Both Governments keep the money but what I would like to know is why the US also fined them for the same offence? Surely, in law, a person / persons/ company etc. can only be punished for an offence once. As BA is a UK company and had been punished by the UK Authorities, what gave the US the right to punish them a second time. Does this mean that Germany, France, Italy and all other nations that have a BA route can punish them as well? It's time the US stopped thinking it is master to the world and sorted it's own problems. Instaed of invading Iraq, adding more punishment to BA etc. etc. they should do something for those blacks that live in severe poverty, in American Ghetos. They should do something to stop nutters from getting into schools and gunning down bucket loads of kiddies. Then there's the drug problems etc. etc. I believe the US thought that another punishment would break BA's back and they would go out of business thus leaving all those millions of passenger no alternative other than to use US Airlines. I am glad BA had the sense to set funds aside for these actions and have come out strong. Now it's our turn to start fining US Airlines for any of their infringements. As for BA, I believe they should challenge the legitimacy of the US action as the UK fines were severe, for any company. No US corporation has ever been fined to this extent, therefore I would suggest an accusation of racism against the US Authorities and / or a conspiracy to cause the bankruptcy of a company to strengthen the business of US companies thus being a similar allegation of a breach of anti-competition laws. The intent, after all, was an intent to weaken the strongest airline in the world.

split between the U.K & U.S Governments.

It's like a normal fixed penalty fine issued.
It goes straight into Gov. coffers as they broke a law.

If passengers want anything back they'll need to start a " class action lawsuit " meaning everyone gets together to sue BA.

It wont happen but the inside word from Heathrow is bag allowance prices will increase by end of month from BA.

proud to be British.....
