Working on the bridal shower...The bride in question has decided that the best gifts will be lingerie, spa treatments and bathing items (stuff for taking a bath, not equipping the room).
What do you propose we call this in the invitation? Is it a "personal beauty" theme? "Intimate Beauty"? Any and all suggestions are welcome...Thanks!

An update (for Cope, in particular)...
Yes, I am the bride's mother, and I'll be there...The bride's grandmother and aunt are planning the event, and are looking forward to it! While we're not the type of group who discusses our sexual activities openly, we're also not the type to be embarrassed by it.

Thanks for all the answers!
For whomever said it was rude for the bride to choose...it's called a theme, and it's exceptionally common. At least we're not going with a time-of-day theme, or an alphabet theme! It's not easy to find a gift that starts with the letter Q!

i would get invitations that had a spa or bath theme and say something like " An afternoon of pampering".

I think intimate&beauty works just fine, then make sure to put your phone number on there so that people can call and ask you questions if they arent sure about gifts, or you could always place in an insert say your having this theme shower for the bride and list some gift ideas and say that while any gifts are welcome some ideas to go along with the theme are: lingerie (size...) spa treamtents, bath soaps, candles, message oils....and whatever else
and btw...that shower sounds like lots of fun...I like things like that...its much more interesting then watching the bride open a toaster. hope everyone has a good time!

I think the type of shower you have in mind is good. I did not understand what I would be expected to bring until I read the other answers. Angeldust_599 had the best answer and cleared up the question for me. No it's not rude for the bride to suggest a theme. It is much like a Gift Registry...only nicer.

I like your idea of Intimate beauty. If you need further explanation the person giving the shower can share that information when people call to R.S.V.P.
I just went to one of my niece's showers this past Saturday night. They had a "couples shower". It was a chance for both sides of the family to meet and to spend time with friends. So both the bride and groom were there and friends of the couple's parents. We had burgers/baked beans(we live in Texas) and later a small cake.
It was a very nice time and we got to see her open tons of presents. What made it so cool was the couple didn't just get stuff for the kitchen, but he got tools too.

It is definitely not rude for the bride to choose what type of shower she would like if she is asked by the hostess.
I would call it a Lingerie/Pampering shower or something like that. I don't think she will get very much lingerie if you call it a personal beauty or something like that. I would definitely include the word "lingerie" on the invite if she wants to receive any!

intimate beauty theme
bathing items and lingerie are very intimate
as spa treatments are for beauty
it works, and it warns ppl on how this bridal shower will take place (as in on a scale of personalcy)

I had a shower like this and they called it a "Personal Shower." But they did have to clarify what would be good gifts including my favorite colors, scents, and sizes. I got nightgowns, lotions, some naughty things, and bath scrubs. It was a blast. One game they did was each person wrapped a pair of underwear for me to guess who brought it. I was stumped!

I like the "intimate beauty" phrasing....it seems to hint at lingerie without coming right out & saying so.
Um, are her Mom & Grandma, Mom-in-law, and Grandma in Law not attending? Because that would be embarrassing....at least to me.
