Getting one at Wal-Mart this week and they don't deliver. Will it fit in a SUV? Some one told me that they had to be stood up and couldn't be laid down flat. Has anyone ever used a SUV for this task? Hate to use a pickup.

You CAN LAY IT DOWN.....I have laid down hundreds of plasmas for 60 to 150 mile rides, and not ONE has EVER had a problem when it was picked up or delivered....

I use a couple quilts underneath it and generally lay it down with the glass facing upwards....and yes, with hardware on the back I lay the glass downwards.....

Just don't go Off-roading with it.....and don't pull a "General Lee" stunt either.....

I DON'T care to stand up a Plasma TV in a VAN or SUV and have to make left and right turns all the way home....That's MORE DANGEROUS than laying it down...

Ooops...I "IMPLIED" that laying it down has some danger...
It isn't dangerous as long as you don't drive over potholes and rough roads all the way home....Just find as much Smooth road as possible, and take it easy on rougher roads....

NEVER had one fail......
But I did bust up an LCD that was standing up......

I doubt it will fit in an SUV unless you have a vehicle with a very tall interior. Many times with TVs in the 40-42" range we have to take them out of the boxes to fit in some mid-size SUVs, or we can fit it but the box is pretty much wedged between the roof and floor. As far as the upright issue, it's recommended not to lay it down because the glass panes could become separated over a period of time or from a bump on the road. We've let some people angle them or lay them down if they are only driving a few miles or less, but most people don't want to take the chance and usually come back with a truck to get the TV. And I don't blame then either, considering it's a multi-thousand dollar investment. You may not want to use a pickup but it is probably worth it in the long run. It's too bad they don't deliver though. Shoulda bought at Best Buy!

Plasma manufacturers specify moving a Plasma set upright, not lying down on it's side. You'd be better off getting a pickup. I had to with my 50". That said, it is "possible" to move it on it's side without damage, but be very, very, very careful! And if you screw it up, don't be looking for a return or warranty work.

Feel free to lay the TV flat on its back, but DO NOT put anything on top. Plasma boxes have zero padding on the sides (hence the recommendation to move them in the up position).

I wouldn't advise it. Have store delivery bring it home and set-up all connections. I'd rather have a trained qualified person who sets these up all day long instead of beating up the instructions to do it. Pay the money. No HH Greg either.
