I would get a Panasonic DVC Proline camcorder. These camcorders range from small to shoulder mount and are at very good prices(about $2000) with the quality of professional camcorders. The next step would be a DVC Pro which starts at $12000.

generally a professional wedding video is edited, not just a jumble of raw camera footage. therefore you want a format that lends itself to that. i would recommend a pro level miniDV main camera (canon, jvc, sony, panasonic) and tripod, with a consumer style miniDV for supplemental and cover shots. you will also need a good computer for the editing chore, a top end PC with ieee 1394 port or Mac.
