Right now, I have made a field antenna and can turn in some radio stations. But the biggest problem seems to be once they start playing music it gets distorted, almost sounds like interferance. Also, is there a way that I can scan for more radio stations? Thanks in advance for any help.

i will give you some of my Marine Corps secrets..I was a Radio Operator with the grunts, and i was taught how to use antennas other than the one issued to you..1st, im guessing its FM, remember that the tip of your antenna is the only part that matters, keep all metal away from radio and antenna..fm radio waves travel along the ground, bouncing off this and that..if a huge metal barn was in the path, the it would interfere with your comm.if music is getting distorted try this...ensure you have proper power, ensure radio is off the ground, ground will absorb energy from radio, try going up or down a few clicks on the radio..or try searching for another channel...if its still going in and out, it means its to far for your radio, heres a solution..PAY ATTENTION, if you are 100 percent sure of where the radio or tv station is located, then you can build an antenna that ONLY transmits and receives in that direction...this will be fun for you, assuming you have the proper wire for a field antenna, you would first make a "clothesline" antenna, this is a bi-directional ant. it transmits and rec. in the two directions its facing, it must be elevated between 10-20 ft, this is how you search for the signal, lets assume you now have a positive location, you anchor in the air the center of the clothsline, unhook the 2 ends, now make a "V" shape with the 2 ends toward your target,..the closest you can have the 2 ends is about 6 ft, if not the signals will cross, do you see the theory behind this, the opening of the V is where all the power is directed and received, making the signal very powerful...this is ONLY used when you know where the target is located, if not you start with an "omni directional", meaning weak signal, because it shoots in all directions......contact me if you want to play some more
