I just found out about a lady that has been fighting cancer for quite a while now, has been given a week! Her wish is to be cremated and have her ashes scattered over her back yard. I am wondering if she would even be able to do this? Is this allowed or even acceptable?!

yes, you can scatter ashes in most places.
she can certainly have them in her back yard as it is private property. we cremated my dog & scattered his ashes in my garden & at the point of my yard where it looks out over the river where he use to sniff the breezes.... his favorite spot.
cremation is very acceptable. funeral homes sell urns and you can purchase them online as well. sometimes people scatter all the ashes & other times they keep them.
We kept a very small amount from my dog in a tiny urn which is just a pretty vase & doesn't look like a funeral urn.
sometimes people wish to be cremated & then have ashes buried next to relatives anyway (they just dont want to be embalmed) or have ashes placed in a mausoleum --- there are many ways people deal with death & the body.
remember the body is only a shell...

In Hinduism cremation alone is recommended -burying is not recommended. In INDIA the ashes can be scattered in one's OWN PROPRTY and can be dissolved in sacred Rivers.Ash of even a human carcas will not contain any Infectious Material ,because all the Organic material is incinerated at very high temperature and only Inorganic salts of Ca,Fe,Mo,Cobalt,Cl etc will be there in micro quantities. -if there is any fear it is only Psycological-like ghost(mental aberation) etc.

Yes....you can pretty much scatter a person's ashes wherever they want.

My friend did this with her uncle before realizing she had to mow the lawn.

You can scatter them pretty much anywhere...just try not to make it obvious!

My mother always told me to scatter her at the beach..just throw and run! lol.

YOU CAN SCATTER HUMAN ASHES ON YOUR OWN PROPERTY.

IN A ROSE GARDEN WOULD BE NICE.

THERE ARE CERTAIN RESTRICTIONS ABOUT ELSEWHERE.

ASK THE FUNERAL HOME.
