The short answer: No.
I think social mores have changed a lot w/ respect to body piercings, tattoos, etc., but ultimately, it depends on your situation. Are you a 40-something business professional? Probably shouldn't do it. Are you a 20-something college student? Go for it. I don't think it's every trashy to be pierced there, but in some instances it's not socially acceptable.
Moreover, I'm of the mindset that once you hit your 30s, it's time to start putting the odd piercings to bed.

Are people really still this weirded out by piercings?! My god! No its not trashy! I don't think any piercings are trashy unless you intend to use them in a trashy way. You don't have to have a "bad girl" attitude to get any kind of body modification. I've seen countless girls that dress nice that have cartilage piercings, belly button piercings, nose studs. If you do get your cartilage pierced, please do not get it pierced at Claires or any other mall place that uses guns. That is so unsafe! (Piercing guns are not sterile and they can shatter, yes shatter, the cartilage.) Go to a piercing parlor. They will make it so much cleaner and with much less pain for you.

No! It's called a cartilage piercing, and I've got one. I only think it's trashy if you wear huge, outrageous earrings on it or get more than one piercing up there. In my cartilage piercing, I wear a small diamond stud. It's cute and fashionable and not weird-looking. I just think it's trashy for a guy to have it done, too.

I don't see how having a pierced cartilage looks trashy. I never heard that--I have it done and mine is just a diamond and it looks cute..I get compliments all the time. Only get one ear done, because having two looks weird.

It depends on what other piercings you have and what you wear.
However remember that trashy is open to interpretation. Some people love tatt's and piercings and others are disgusted by it.
If you are worried about it maybe it is not right for you.

it really depends on the person who has it done. too many ear piercings tend to look trashy. but i simply dont like top of the ear piercings. =/
