IDK about UK, but it's rare to find "Real Veal" anymore.
Veal used be milk fed calves, weaned.
Today, in US, a cow is penned in small quarters and starved which creates Anemia, thus the meat turns pink.
It really is abusive to the animal, nevertheless, sold for veal at high prices.

Several years ago, I was in Italy and read some mags at the hotel. There was a Veternarian convention there.
They were discussing that scenario as well as hormones for livestock.
So, not sure about Italy anymore.

If it wasn't for us do gooder's,there wouldn't be a lot left now would there,and if there were more Hannibals around you would then get a taste of what it feels like to be a hunted animal eh!from the animals point of view,mother nature will fight back bad enough one day to create a cure for us,mmmmm!food for thought.

Yes you can...an excellent supplier is Donald Russell of Scotland (Google it)...they will send it to you quick frozen. They have all sorts of meat, game too.Excellent.

Paul H...Deer meat is venison, not veal. Veal is calf meat.

veal is baby bulls taken from mum at birth. locked into tiny pens. this enables mum to give more milk to the dairy farmer,baby is fed fast food to make it tender for you to eat. i'll omit the gory details enjoy your meal

Yep!you can get veal burgers in Asdas,i had some the other day.Yummy!!
