* Note: This refers to Solomon Spalding's "Manuscript Found," and not "Manuscript Story" (erroneously referred to as "Manuscript Found" by E.D. Howe, who discovered it in Hawaii), which was so famously certified as "not being the basis for the Book of Mormon."

This question is addressed to critics of the LDS faith, but all are welcome to answer if they feel so inclined.

Prince Zelph: The real "Manuscript Found," despite its title, has not yet been found.

Only one document (and fragments of unrelated novels) written by Spalding has actually been found, and that was Manuscript Story.

Nothing will serve except for recovery of the infamous plates, and even those would not be above suspicion.

Just because someone wrote a book on gold plates doesn't make it true. Finding an old manuscript of the Book of Mormon would prove nothing other than the BoM was written before Joseph Smith. It wouldn't prove it to be true.

Solomon Spalding's manuscripts have been found and they are nothing like the Book of Mormon. I've read both and there is not any resemblance to each other. If the hardest critic was to read both and compare they would realize they were wrong.

I doubt that there is another Spaulding manuscript that closely resembles the Book of Mormon, so much that it would be considered plagiarized.

Well, first they'd want to authenticate if the paper and ink predate Smith's opus, and probably argue over the dissimilarity of penmanship (even if none is discerned), but I'm sure the Maxwell House would come up with an immediate dismissal and claim that the BoM prophesied that evil forensic scientists would try to discredit it anyway.

Whoa... your way over my head. You must be studying the Mormon faith. What real manuscript are you referring to? I know BoM is Book of Mormon. Who is FARMS? I have a hard time keeping up with what is happening in the Mormon faith. It keeps changing. What is true today is changed tomorrow.

I'm thinking that the Second Coming of the Messiah will happen before the golden tablets make another appearance.

People will keep trying to discredit the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith as it was prophesied.
