Thanks to all that have answered so far.

It was a quote from a comedian. I don't understand what he is getting at, and it's annoying me, lol.

When the joke says... "you can guess what he told me", is the bit I don't get... because I can't think of anything that he could have said that would have explained everything.

Sorry, I'm dumb :D!!

Thanks again though.

It has digital numbers and you didn't understand that part. In the days of old when Grandfather would have bought a watch, digital watches weren't available.

It's an era mind teaser.

Just like you probably don't know the term, sounds like a broken record. Because you know CD's and MP3's etc, you're probably too young to remember vinyl records.

The only thing it could be is time to buy a new watch

No, but if it's a riddle, I hope someone knows the answer. These things drive me crazy.

Is it a joke or a riddle? Did you find out the answer? Is it the answer you don't get, or figuring out the answer that's confusing?

You can guess because it would be a guess as to what time it is

No, if you'd told me what he told you, then I could explain to you what he meant.

But since you assumed that I'd know what he told you, then I can't help you.
