Work up to an hour a day. Whatever you run now, just walk the rest to make the full hour. Good Luck

Cardio is one of the best forms of exercise. It depends on what kind of shape you are in. If you haven't done any form of exercise in quite some time I would start off slow. 10's mins the first week and then gradually move up. If you are in decent shape then start off 10-15 mins the 1st week and then increase to 20-30mins the next. Either way your probably going to be sore so you need to take things slow off the bat. But, running in the morning will help both lose weight and get you into shape. Make sure you drink lots of water now as well.
Good Luck

Yes, running is a good method of exercising. It works on your legs, core, and if you do it right, your arms a bit. You should run for however long it takes you to get tired. Ten minutes seems a bit short to me, but if that tires you out, you should start there.

Running and walking are the best things you can do for your body
Running increases endurance, makes you faster of course and burns fat
Walking builds your legs mucsles and your abs
