Cats that are declawed it does not affect them in any way and they don't have problems with their personality and their behavior, they can jump up and down from furniture , they can play with their toys, and they can use their litter with no problem, they have no balance problems. It does not affect them mentally at all. And for spaying and Neutering a cat it does not affect them because they don't know what happened to them. they are asleep when it is done and they go on with what they do . They are not human like we are were we can remember what happens to us. Cats just go on with their lives and it does not bother them at all. They forget and they go on living.I have a cat that is declawed and it has not affected my cat in any way and she did not have any of the problems that people say and she is very happy and very loving. For the spaying of my cat it not affect her in any way either.

A) Spaying and neutering isn't painful at all! They'd just be a bit uncomfortable the days after while they're recovering. And their personalities might change, but only for the better. They'd become so much more affectionate and loving, and more playful. =) No worries, there, love! Words to describe spay/neutering: Loving. Healthy. Routine. No biggie. Responsible. Caring. =) B) I don't know if there's much I can say about de-clawing, because I'm sure others will warn you of what absolute HORROR this is. I've seen the mutilating surgery done several times, right there in person. I cried the first time. I'm SO against declawing that it makes me sick. Words to describe declawing: unnecessary. dumb. disgustingly cruel. selfish. ignorant. uneducated. irresponsible. mutilating. illegal. immoral. disturbing. life-threatening. Painful beyond belief. I could go on for days like this. Declawing is ILLEGAL in all countries with cats except for the U.S. and Canada. Why would they outlaw a good thing? Because it's not a good thing. The only reason it's still legal here is because selfish, ignorant people are willing to pay big money to cut off their cat's fingers, and equally selfish and immoral vets are willing to do it. They actually go in deep past the blood vessels and nerves to not-so-carefully rip off each nail. Do you have any idea how painful that is? And how it drastically damages the cat's life? The cat becomes disabled, crippled for the rest of its life. That is not an exaggeration, that's a fact. Please don't let anyone declaw your babies! Spaying/Neutering = Yay! Love! Good! Awesome! Declawing = *cries*

I disagree with declawing as I do believe that it has a negative effect on their behaviour. Some cats will start to bite more once the front claws are gone. I have also seen declawing done where the cat ended up with a deformed leg due to a nerve being damaged in the procedure. There are so many things that can go wrong with this operation.

Spaying and neutering help to prevent many cancers as well as stopping unwanted litters. So please spay and neuter your cats!! (and try not to declaw if possible!)

I have attached a couple of links that explain what the declaw actually is (which is an amputation). If we were to be declawed it would be the same as losing the first part of your finger down to the first joint is where they do the amputation on a cat.

Declawing your cat is like cutting your fingers off at the first knuckle. It can cause them a lifetime of pain. Very often this procedure is not done correctly and I can't imagine why any vet anywhere would even do this to an animal. If you don't like what a cat does with it's claws then a cat is the WRONG animal for you. You wouldn't remove a dogs teeth because it chewed up your shoes or it's voicebox because it barks ( i know some ******* do this). Spaying and nuetering is different, this actually helps the pet population which is a problem and this is something that if you had a choice you could actually do it to yourself if you wanted to. You would never chose to remove your fingertips.

I think that a lot of cats get depressed after removing their claws. Cats have very good memories and can hold grudges. Behavior problems can stem from declawing a cat such as biting or urine marking. Also, I've heard of cats being happy before and being completely miserable after being declawed. Scratching is fun for cats. It's something that they love to do because it helps them stretch their muscles and leave their scent on things that they want to smell like them. However, I don't think that altering a cat really changes the personality. Altering actually benefits the cat, whereas declawing is just for the convenience of its owner.

It's been proven that cats get behavioural problms very often from declawing, and it gives NO benefit to the cat medically, its done purely for the owner.
On the other hand, spaying lets them live longer and not die from weird cancers, with the downside of them getting fat.

Mentally unstable??? Animals act on instinct, not thought. I think the cat could not defend themselves or catch mice if it were declawed, but I do not think it's friends are going to ridicule it or cause any mental harm, as I think animals act on
instinct, not emotion or thought. Same for spaying/neutering.

Declawing usually makes them sore for a few days, but I have never had one go mental on me.

Spay/Neuter? Gotta do that!!

As far as forgiving and forgetting: MY CATS forget NOTHING!! They still love me though!

DECLAWING IS INHUMANE AND CRUEL. BUT SPAY/NEUTERING IS OKAY, CATS CAN LIVE AN EVEN HAPPIER LIFE WITHOUT THEIR SEXUAL ORGANS, BUT CATS NEED THEIR CLAWS TO SURVIVE AND WONT LIKE U FOR DECLAWING THEM.

yes, it is making your cat an amputee. They remove the front end of the claw, like removing your finger nail and part of your finger that it sits on. Clip the claws instead ~ weekly.
Spaying and Neutering ~no. it does not harm them mentally, actually keeps males from being roamers and lessens their chances of spraying the house.
