The ignorance of current world events in the previous answers is astounding.

Al Qaeda is a Wahabbi Sunni terrorist organization, made up mostly of Sunni Arabs from Sunni Arab countries, and a few Sunni non-Arabs. Iran, on the other hand, is a Persian Shi'a country. Arabs historically and currently have no love for Persians, and vice versa. Sunnis historically and currently have no love for Shi'ites, and vice versa. So you tell me--do you really think that Iran, a Persian Shi'a country, would harbor or allow Al Qaeda in their country? Do you think that Al Qaeda is restricted only to Afghanistan? Or are you unaware that one of the biggest terrorist groups in Iraq is called "Al Qaeda in Iraq"? Al Qaeda has other enemies, too--Saudi Arabia, which itself is Sunni Arab, is the birthplace of both Islam and the Wahhabi sect, and is the birthplace of Osama bin Laden, considers Al Qaeda one of its primary enemies, and Al Qaeda regards Saudi Arabia the same way.

Mere geography is not the only factor in this war. Based on your question, you really, really need to brush up on your world history and knowledge of current and recent events. It is absolutely foolish to make your decisions based on what American media, who have their own agendas, tell you, or what other people tell you. Read things for yourself, and keep American politics out of it--American politics has only exacerbated this war from the beginning and is making it worse day-by-day. Turn off the TV, and learn a little about the world around you.

Because Iran has an agreement to allow AL QUEDA to train in Iran; in the event AL QUEDA attacks Iranians, regardless of clique, Iran will, expell AL QUEDA.

Consider Iran like Laos during the vietnem war, Laos allows the Vietcong to use Laos as a highway to South Vietnam with absolute impunity as they can train constantly with no fear of U.S. attacks as they are on Iranian soil.

Iran has always sucked as a Government.

Good question! The only answer I have is that al-Queda promotes terror and does not really care about its religious faith.
