I went on vacation. and I had my friend take care of her while I was gone. She has a hamster of her own. She kept the two hamsters in different cages. But while I was gone her hamster passed away. She said that the hamster stopped and then peed and just fell over. Could have my hamster gave the other hamster lots of stress?

Hamsters unfortunately have a very short lifespan at 2-3 years at the most. The hamster probably died a natural death and this had nothing to do with your hamster.

I'm sorry for your friends loss...:(

i'm pretty sure your hamster death-gaze didn't not kill your other hamster.

I also agree that hamster's life span are short and even if you bought it recently it could have been in a pet store for some time before being purchased.

Hamster do not have long, healthy lives. I believe it probably died of natural causes.

So sorry. Might consider a bird or cat ( lives longer)

No.

I had hamsters a long time, and babysat other hamsters (among other pets) quite a bit too. None of mine cared. 1 we knew the owners quite well, and both hamsters would run in their balls in 1 go. They'd sorta chase each other around a bit, neither minded. Of course 2 balls under your feet in 1 go is amusing.

In truth, so long as they're the only 1 in the cage, and they have food + water.. most don't care.

Don't fret it.

I guess you own a Teddy undergo ( or Syrian) Hamster. they gained't tolerate the different hamster. in case you already realize it incredibly is for specific a Dwarf Hamster ( they're greater social) , than take a huge cardboard container and stick the two hamsters in it. in case you notice any aggression what so ever take a hamster out and overlook approximately getting a play mate to your hamster. it ought to basically no longer prefer a pal, in simple terms greater interest from you.

I dont think so. If there had been signs of aggression or fear I am sure they cages would have been seperated further. It seems just an unfortunate coincidence.

Make sure you thank your friend for taking good care of your hamster and regrets on the death of hers. Perhaps you could help her get another hamster if she wants another one .

I think the hamster was on its way out, anyway. Here's a prime example: sometimes people drop over dead from a heart attack when something really stressful happens. But, they were going to die anyway quite soon. It could be the hamster was stressed out, and that made it die a little quicker. It is not your fault!

Hamsters usually fight each other, and they have heart attacks pretty easily. So yes, it is possible that the stress of another hamster gave hers a heart attack.
