Why would you think evidence is not a factor? Christianity is an extension of Judaism. The Christian faith simply hinges on the fact that Jesus is the fulfillment of the prophecies. The Jews do not recognize this.
There is a great deal of historical and archaeological documentation that supports both the Old and New Testaments. The Old Test. is pre Jesus and the New is during and Post Jesus.
As for why I believe it's true.........because I am a child of God. I did a lot of research before I could believe and so my downfall was that I did not have more faith. Just think Jesus only lived for 33 years and of that He only taught for 3!!! How incredible that 2,000 years later that 3 years still shapes the world. Only God.......................

Evidence IS a factor - at the Council of Nicea in 325 A.D. was when it was first made official that Jesus was in fact "divine" (i.e., God) and not before that. With this historical evidence, it destroys a fundamental supposition of Christianity - that Jesus was ALWAYS worshipped as God (he wasn't!) and that Jesus said that he WAS God (he would have been stoned to death as a heretic if he had). Islam is actually based in large measure on Christianity and Judaism. As to whether or not Judaism is true or not, that is something you would have to decide for yourself.

Of course evidence is a factor.
Its always been a factor.
The most significant piece of evidence is that Jesus rose from the dead.
Pastor Art
PS to Paul:
Jesus was declared to be God at least 800 years before He was born.
Of course He's always been God, after all Jesus is the Creator.
See Isaiah 9:
6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
The above is the first time, not the last.
His disciples called him God in John chapter 20.
All the Council at Nicea did was verfiy what had been in the Scriptures for the prior 1,000 years.

First I would like to know what you mean by "evidence". Anything that i say to answer the question would be my "evidence" for why Christianity is more true than any other way to communicate with God.
so because the word "evidence" is sightly confused here i'll just continue.
Christianity is the only religion that is Verifiable. That is why there are so many people trying to disprove it. Historical and archaeological "evidence" has never proved it wrong. Jesus' life was perfect, something we will never achieve, but i know that through His Helper - the Holy Spirit - we have a better understanding of how we can be like Him, even if we fail a lot.
I grew up in a Church-going household. when moved out i decided to rebel against what i was taught and what i had previously proclaimed i believed in. I know now that i really did have a relationship with God through Jesus. His ways are best for me. i intellectually knew that there were reasons for following him. i also felt that i was doing this because nothing was really blocking me from worshiping the One who created me and the world. But, due to rejecting His idea of what is best for me, i am currently in a place where i actually feel the things blocking me from being able to fully relate to and thank God for the blessings He has given me in the way of life, friends, security etc.
To me this is what makes me believe beyond a doubt that what I had said to be true is true, and helps me to see the world from the Creator's perspective even better than just being a nice person. The Holy Spirit shows me a better path that will not harm me or those around me. i think of paths that will make me happy temporarily and take them, only to discover that i really wanted to take God's path because it never leaves me feeling like i should have done it differently. sometimes i think i've missed out, but I know now that i would only miss out on heartbreak, confusion, loss of consistency and dishonesty.
If you really want to connect with That-Which-Made the world and everything in it, try asking for help from his Helper and talk to Jesus who was a real example of God's character. The bible and a bible teaching church will also give you guidance.
My pastor said on Sunday, that churches are full of hypocrites, but i'm one of them. By confessing that we are sinners, we are admitting that. If you also go, you'll be saving someone else from pointing out to you that you are one too.

Actually evidence is a factor. The history, witnesses and prophesies of the Holy Bible should be taken into account. The Bible has been proved to be very historically accurate (the kings mentioned, lands, geography, etc.). The OT is true so that would make the Jewish belief true but incomplete. They do not have their Messiah yet. The NT is true, fulfilled prophesies and laws of the OT and Jesus is the Messiah. islam does not have this. They have one man who came along and claimed to have new revelations. He did not have witnesses and history and prophesies to back him up. Muhammad's so called revelations do not agree with the real prophets of God. Muhammad did not perform any miracles and he admitted that he could not. He admitted he was a sinner. Jesus is sinless, alive and saves. Muhammad killed his enemies and Jesus said to love your enemies, love everyone.
God Bless.

But evidence IS a factor! That is why if you look at all three religions, you will find evidence of the last revelation (i.e. Islam) contained within the earlier two. The one with the last best case wins! Try searching "Muhammad in the Bible" for details.
EDIT: Woooh!! To the person on top of me: You are NOT a Muslim, but a believer in the teachings of Elijah Muhammad as expressed by the Nation of Islam. The Quran expressly says that God DOES NOT appear in human form! Please read the Quran and use it for guidance instead of the false teachings of a heretic. The Quran says clearly that there will be no new prophets or messengers. Elijah Muhammad is a false prophet!
