This is an honest question, and if too many people can't answer without juvenile stupidity then I'll just pull the question (5 points means nothing to me because my life is more than YA).

Why would atheists come on here, some of them every single day, to spend hours bashing people who believe whatever? I am sinerely looking for an answer, not trying to change your behavior (because it doesn't affect me now and certainly not when the computer is turned off).

Why come on here, in a subject area that you are clearly opposed to with all your strength? I can understand the Chrstians doing it, because they believe in promoting their beliefs. But what honestly logical reason could an atheist have for doing this a lot (some every day!)?

Why shouldn't an Atheist want to express their beliefs. The problem with too many Christians is they just assume they know how an atheist thinks when they don't. The category is not called God talk or the christian forum it is called religion and spirituality. I don't believe someone has to believe in God to have a sense of spirituality. Just because you don't believe that a single sentient being is responsible for the universe coming into
being doesn't mean we think we have all the answers. Atheists have a need to discuss cosmological issues as much as any christian. As far as why an atheists would want to spread their message and try to turn people from religion. Well more people have died because of religion throughout the history of time than anything else. I personally believe religion is a horrible stain on humanity that has done far more harm than good. So I would support anyone who says the same. Christians just can't accept that most Atheists believe their religion is far more evil than any imaginary devil they want to blame their shortcomings on. So when you get upset about atheists posting their anti religious sentiments keep in mind how many have coming knocking on your door(I'm guessing none) While atheists have to put with Jehovah's Witnesses and Jesus Christ of Latter Days saints representatives ringing our doorbells every few months. Then again maybe atheists should start going door to door. Hey it would only be fair right.

I don't know about others, but I probably come on here for about an hour, 2-3 times per week. I think there are two reasons for this:

1) I live in the US, which is predominantly Christian and has a very large, organized group that wants Christianity to be this country's binding law (or least sole guiding principle). Coming here reminds me how ignorant and backwards I find this group to be, and it reminds me that I cannot simply shrug my shoulders and tolerate this particular group involving itself in the governance and policy-making of this country. It is important to keep them from attaining any more power than they already have.

2) Sometimes, it's just a nice outlet for the things I wish I could say in real life without losing my job, being scorned by neighbors, worrying my family, etc. It's hard to have no beliefs while being stuck in all this crap that is the product of supernatural beliefs. Iraq, Iran, Israel-Palestine, India-Pakistan, incompetent hirings based on religious beliefs (see Regent Law School and the US Department of Justice), judicial appointments based on abortion views, etc. It's all such nonsense, and I am forced to be involved. So, when someone comes here asking why there are still monkeys or asks me to prove that their god does not exist, I point my finger and laugh at the silly believer. It keeps me sane.

I don't consider this a juvenile answer but perhaps you will and that will be your perception of it.

This type of question is asked multiple times daily and as such I rarely will answer it now. I used to but got sick of having to type the same thing over and over. When you ask a question on this forum it tells and shows you the similar questions found. Since you then know there are so many similar questions (they are all the same actually when you get to the bare bones of it) I do not see why you don't peruse the resolved questions section rather than just adding to the pile.

If you are really interested, I have answered this many times before and you can find it in resolved questions.

a number of them maximum possibly might, assuming they seen. I rather doubt that one and all of them might difficulty taking the impediment to do it. At any fee, starring a query in simple terms once you think approximately which you take place to have an identical religious attitude through fact the asker isn't an somewhat reliable concept interior the 1st place. Stars are speculated to be for stimulating, exciting questions, now not any question asked via an actual artwork rigidity of people.

Thomas Aikenhead said, "It is a principle innate and co-natural to every man to have an insatiable inclination to truth, and to follow reason where it may lead." In 1697. This is pertinent for two reasons. One it is manifestly true, secondly Mr. Aikenhead was shortly thereafter hung for heresy.

I come here because I wish to follow where reason will lead, but can not go all that way alone. Many questions on this sight have challenged my philosophy, and some have even changed it.

I also come here to forward my ideas. One lesson of the past is that our freedom to speak our minds in not impervious to zealotry. If I can show the faithful that atheist can conduct themselves ethically with reason and compassion as their guides, I advance my cause.

Thank you for your question.

I could ask the same question: why do people like you keep asking atheists these silly questions?
I don't come on here to bash people; I come on here to present another viewpoint. Most people know about Christianity, they're bombarded with it every day and don't get the other side. And it's good for you guys to be exposed to other ideas. You sure don't get that in church.
Enigma: life is a foxhole. We're all going to die. Atheists are more willing to face that fact than believers are.

Excuse ME, but I come on here to learn and to teach. Check my answers, I mostly reply to question that are asked of atheists. Am I not supposed to answer truthfully? Also, I was a Baptist, a Congregationalist, a Mormon and I studied the Bible for five years with Jehovah's Witnesses. I think I have some knowledge to share. This is not the Christian section and nowhere does it say that to discuss religion on here, you have to be PRO religion.

For me, I believe in promoting my beliefs as well. And my belief that this country is better off without Christianity (or belief in ANY god) is very important to me. Nothing snide about it.

I resent the way that religious folks vote on laws and political candidates based on their religious beliefs. Would you vote for a Mormon or a Muslim for President? Why? Because you're afraid he'll make approve or veto laws based on his religious beliefs. How about an Atheist for President? No... why? Because you'd be afraid he'd try to change laws based on his non-belief.

THAT is why I'm here... to point that out and hope that more Christians will respect my non-belief as I TRY (desperately) to respect their belief.

You're saying it's okay for the Christians to behave stupid and immaturely because they believe in something we don't? What kind of logic is that? I am here as an atheist because I want to learn why believers believe what they do, and to put to rest the misconceptions people have about atheists. This is an open forum, where we *should* all be able to learn from each other in a calm, rational way.

In an attempt to 'not bash you' or anyone else for that matter, I will answer by saying that I am not opposed to exchanging ideas with others on the topid of religion and spirituality, which is what this forum is supposed to be for, I feel that educating people is a worthwhile endeavor and that I enjoy sharpening my wits with intelligent meaningful discussion.
