Currently, I am a PO1 in the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC). Under public law, Sea Cadets have been given the privilege of wearing certain US Naval uniform attire, provided we wear particular insignia identifying the program we belong to.

I will be a CPO in two months. This obviously means that I will have to change uniforms. However, there are a few problems with this: (1) the USNSCC has a very limited supply of CPO uniforms and cannot afford to purchase new ones; (2) I am unable to afford new ones from the NEX.

Where can I find new, or at least very good, CPO uniforms at a low price???

I'd go with a surplus store. When I was discharged, I kept just enough stuff to make a full version of every uniform (1 set of Utilities, 1 pair service trousers, 1 pair dress trousers, 1 short sleeved, and one long sleeved shirt, with appropriate covers, boots, and shoes) and sold the rest to the nearest surplus store for some quick cash, I didn't need it any more.

I am not sure where you are located, but usually right outside of many bases is a military surplus store. Since it is right outside the base (within about 10-15 miles of one anyway) the items that they have there are not only old school supplies and gear from outdated gear issues, but also things that many retiring or discharged service members sold back. I know outside of MCAB Cherry Point, the place is called ET's and they had almost every piece of uniform attire that one would get in their basic issue simply because some people get out and want nothing else to do with the military, which works out for you! Just look in the phone book for a military surplus store nearby and see what you come up with.

ebay or Army/Navy surplus stores.

IF you have access to a base becuase you are a military ID holder, try the base Thrift shop as well. Most have a uniform section.

Have you thought of checking the local military surplus store(s)? That is what my brother does and what my father did when they need/needed something hard to find or for a bargain price....

Hope this helps.... and thank for your service!!!!!

EDIT: I just h ad an additional thought. What about trying e-Bay? It may be a good idea....
