When I fly fish in a new place you can't beat a beadheaded pheasant tail nymph. It's my go to fly when things are slow.

I guess I have to agree, anything by Rapala is great, but to change it up, use a Northland Mimmic Minnow... it bounces along the bottom and dances just enough to grab a walleye's attention. It makes plenty of noise and looks real enough. If you have ANY vegetation in the area you are fishing, leave the spinner off, as it just tangles in anything, but in rocky / sandy areas, the spinner gives a nice flash to it. In shallow water Mepps aglias also work well. The March edition of Field and Stream has an extensive listing of the best lures for all kinds of inland fish. Good luck!

In the mornings i like to use just a simple rubber worm hook and weight up on the line about 2' from the hook. Cast it out and let it hit the bottom. then jig it very slow. In the morning the fish are not moving as fast depending on the species. During the day i like to use top water baits (yum) or minnow with a rubber worm (brigh color). Evening the best bait is a purple buzz bait. (yum 3/8). This works in evening because it mimics the bugs on the water and will get you exciting hits when the bass jump out of the water to attack your bait its the best feeling in the world.

Gary Yamamoto 5" senko. The 5 inch gives you better action in the water and a bit more weight for casting than the 4" senko.

My go-to bait is a white 3/8 oz. spinnerbait, either Stanley Platinum, or Hildebrandt Okeechobee Special. If I can't catch 'em on a spinnerbait. I know I'm in for a long day!

with out a doubt it would be a 3'' floating silver Rapala it can be twitched on the top or swim underneath. i always have several in both my fresh and saltwater tackle box's . you can cover lots of water and it mimics pretty much any bait fish there is.

Jig, ask Denny Brauer. I figured if he has one that many millions pitchin a jig, I should learn. I did, he was right. Tough to beat a man in front of the boat that is handy with a jig.
