AN ATRAUMATIC EXTRACTION IS A NON-TRAUMATIC EXTRACTION WHERE SPECIAL INSTRUMENTS CALLED PERIOTOMES AND OTHERS CALLED LUXATORS ARE USED WITH PROPER TECHNIQUE TO GENTLY LOOSEN A TOOTH FOR AN ATRAUMATIC EXTRACTION.
STANDARD EXTRACTION CAN BE TRAUMATIC WHERE BONE CAN SOMETIMES BE BROKEN AND ADJACENT TEETH INJURED.

Removal of a tooth with no or minimal trauma to the surrounding bone and gum tissue. This is done to preserve the area for possible future implantation, etc.
