I think it's all of that sugar in those things, I remember I used to drink alot of them, then found out I was diabetic, I was crashing and didnt have a clue. Stick to water, it meets all of your needs for rehydration, you could always add a twist of orange or lemon or Crystalite.

I always figured it was all the stuff they add to them. Basically all an energy drink is hyped up soda right? They add caffeine, taurine, ginseng, guarana, etc. That stuff is the stuff that keeps your energy level up for one simple reason: it raises your heart beat. I've heard of people dying from complications from drinking too much. From what I understand drinking too many could give you a heart attack. But I'm pretty sure you have to drink a lot in a short time period for that to happen, and there's probably a few other factors involved (for example poor diet, other bad habits, lack of sleep, poor health).
I always make sure I eat something with some protein in it before I drink one, just so when I come down off it I don't feel so sick.

energy drinks keep you going for a few hours, after the effects wear off you just get tired and zombie like, considering what eddieX said...i am a diabetic as well, and crystalite is actually really good.
