Okay I've always wanted to be a cop and may get my chance soon. I have been through some military training and now know that it's work. I'm not disillusioned but it does seem like it can be a difficult job. I romanticized it, saw it's not perfect but still want to make a career of it.
Broad question I know.

about 98% of what a cop does is pretty boring. You are a high paid administrator and parking attendant for the most part. You may be a shrink at others. It is the 2% or less than you see on Cops. Don't do it unless it is really what you want. You will find out just how powerless you are once you get into the profession (and how few people really give a crap about you - and those are other cops)

Entirely too broad. It is a difficult job and rookies wash out in the first couple of years because they just can't make it. It's a dull job punctuated by moments of terror.
If you can't take verbal abuse or you can't fight or read body language or talk people down....then forget it as a career.

all you gotta do is watch "Cops", which i'm sure you've seen before. Also, i think it's kinda like "Dirty Harry" or those shows "The Shield" and "NYPD Blue". Make sure you don't go with a sissy little Glock 9mm, but get a MAN's gun..... 44 Magnum! Nobody will screw with you, then.

You will be joining an elite group of people who only purpose is to stop and question as many people as possible in hopes that they might flee in which case you can pull out your weapon and kill them .
You can lie cheat and steal and get away with murder it is the greatest organization to become a member of .
