how do i put lots of files on one disk?

im about to reboot my computer, so im saving all my stuff to disk. but its going to use up a helluva lot of disks, so is there a way i can compress the files or something? please help!

There are program which will compress a file. Do a search for "winzip". However, they usually only reduce a file by a small amount (average of about 25%).
