I've been an atheist since 12, I just read Richard Dawkins' book last year, I hadn't heard of the man until then.

Worship him? Nah. I think his voice is soothing, I think his work in evolutionary biology is impressive and I think he has some pretty interesting things to say about religion, the god concept and faith, but there are several individuals who I think approach the subject of deities and faith in a much more thorough, organized, persuasive manner.

Because we, unlike many so called 'christians', don't worship Dr. Dawkins, we simply read what he writes in his books or listen to what he says in his lectures and learn a great deal from those experiences. It would behoove these same christians to stop "Worshiping" christ and simply read and listen to what he said and learn to live a christian life - which by the way, is what he told his disciples he wanted them to do. When you worship you idolize and fail to actually learn.

Hardly. I do admire his brilliance and ideas, but I read many other atheist's works, not just his. And I don't agree with everything he says. I'm not too keen on his "Brights" and his meme theory makes me scratch my head. What authors do you admire? Do people claim that you worship them? I've read all the Harry Potter books, all Anne Rice's books, all Stephen King's books, all Donald Porter's books, the works of Mark Twain, Shakespeare, all the works of Gore Vidal, too. Does that make me a polytheist as well?

Sorry, I read about 50 pages of the book but couldn't stick with it - to dull dry and boring. Good thing I got it from the library.

I couldn't tell you anything Richard Dawkins has said. He had/has no influence on my atheism.

actually his first name is clinton, but he's a smart guy, a professor in oxford.. BUT ON A SERIOUS NOTE, MOST ATHEISTS, WILL NOT BE ENSLAVED, WE ARE FREE. free to do a lot of different things like, i don't know, not believe. anyway, all the wars, the hatred, chaos and pain that religion is responsible for, it should make you wounder what is the greater evil, to have it or to deny it.. any questions ask.
