Hi.The only way to buy a particular brand of speaker is to listen to as many as you can in your price range before deciding on one.A good loudspeaker will reproduce all kinds of music without emphasising any part of its frequency range. Also the amplifier you use will have some bearing on what you buy.As you can see from other answerer's they either love Bose or hate Boss .I would not buy a Bose speaker system simply because i don't like the sound (colouration).I am not familiar with Boston Acoustics so i can't comment. I prefer British loudspeakers which generally have a neutral type of sound.
So as not to be disappointed, buy the speakers which sound good to you, irrespective of the brand name.

Boston Acoustics, there a pretty smooth sounding speaker with great overall sound quality. Bose has some of the worst sound i have ever heard, i highly recommend the Boston's over the Bose.

i would take a look at the Boston Acoustics VR1, great sounding speaker dirt cheap.

A Boston Acoustic speaker will blow away a Bose of similar price. In fact, ANY speaker will blow away a Bose of similar price.

The fact of the matter is that choosing a speaker system is a very personal decision. Each person hears and enjoys music differently. Go out and audition a bunch of speakers and make an informed purchase.

Having said that, given the choice, any breathing, semi-human with a pulse would choose Boston Acoustic over Bose.

It is a no brainier Bose is good at making you think the sound is good but it isn't a true representation. Bose will not publish specs at all. Boston Acoustics are a good choice as well as klipsch, Def tech, Martin Logan, B&W, etc...

You should listen head to head on serveral different amps to each speaker you are considering, this is something bose just will not let happen.

Neither. I recommend Legacy Audio (see link below). I have them in my place and they are the best. I've owned many a speaker & these put all of them to shame. I have an older pair of Studio monitors driven by a pair of Marantz MA-500 mono-blocks and they hit hard and accurate. Clear and precise soundstage. My Silver Screen center channel reproduces the vocal center track with authority. The speakers are pricey, but I've bought mine a little at a time as money allowed me to. I haven't given any other speaker another thought since then. Good luck.

I have a pair of Boston CR-6 speakers. They sounded good at first but then one started to sound fuzzy like it was blown.I didn't have them very loud at the time. Are they worth fixing and how much would it cost. Also I took the grill off one of them but can't get it back on.I tried everything but was afraid I'd bend it if I forced it too hard. That really pisses me off.It fit perfect before.
