I think George Borjas is the only one who has done studies on the blue-collar jobs. I don't need any studies to tell me that industries like construction and meat-packing used to pay Americans $25.00 an hour with benefits now pay illegals $8-10.00 an hour. H1-B's have destroyed IT wages, they are down almost 50% - the IEEE might have studies on it.

KotaJerk does not care for working class Americans as they would be the ones most affected by an open borders policy as he suggests.

The studies I have read is that it would affect Americans with less than a High School education the most. If you think they should be thrown under the bus like KotaJerk, then open the borders. If you care more for your fellow Americans then a foreigner then there needs to be tighter controls.

our wages have been decreased 10 to 20 dollars an hour. Americans, depending on the jobs, should be getting payed 10 to 20 dollars an hour. because of illegals are wages will not go up.

I haven't. I think that's part of the problem with the debate. Illegal immigrants (especially those crossing from our southern border) do not compete economically with the college educated, technology/knowledge based economy. However, they are in direct competition with traditional "blue collar" jobs. I think we will see progress when investment bankers and attorneys are loosing jobs . . .

It's unlikely to decrease wages, but what it will do is slow thier growth, possibly contributing to lower real wages.

The U.S. is such a large country with a huge population. Not to mention they have 25% of the WORLD'S currency. So IF wages were to decrease do to immigration, it would be a slight decrease, which would be silly to biitch over, considering that its helping save lives.
