She can not be fired just for being pregnant. She can still be fired for poor performance or other work related issues.

Here is a great link to information about laws that protect pregnant women at work. These laws only apply if you work for an employer with more than 15 employees so you may be out of luck if this is not the case.

While you can't be fired for being pregnant (per these laws), you can for poor performance and other reasons why they might fire a non-pregnant person.

Hope this helps.

It depends. It is unlawful to fire someone for being pregnant. If she qualifies under FMLA, she is entitled to unpaid leave for up to 12 weeks, and must be reinstated when she returns to work, provided it is within the 12 weeks allowed. In order to qualify for this, she must have worked for 12 months or more at the current job, and the employer must employ 50 or more people. If she is not covered under FMLA, and unless there are state laws in your state, they do not have to gaurantee that her job will be waiting for her when she returns from maternity leave. However, if the company allows leaves of absence for other employees, they cannot disallow a similar leave for a pregnancy. If her pregnancy makes her unable to perform her regular job duties, they must treat her the same as they would any other employee. For example, if someone breaks a leg and is allowed to do their job sitting down, they would have to make the same accomodation if the womans doctor restricted her to in regards to standing all day.

yes and no. anyone can be fired if they do not perform to satisfactory, or do things like make serious safety violations. but no they con not fire some one just for becoming pregnant. though most companies have a no cause rule in there contract with you. saying that they can fire you at any time for any or no reason. that dose not always stand up in court though.

Federal law prohibits firing due to pregnancy, except for very strict conditions. Sorry,m not knowledgable on what the conditions are, but do know they are strict to protect both employee and employer.

If its a case where its a physical job and she can no longer do the job then why not? The company should sacrifice themselves just because shes pregnant?
