I have a solid black petite cat who I've named Rio Negra--because she's black and we found her at the river. We call her Ree for short. Me and my partner make up "Ree-words" for example..

What does Rio call her claws and teeth? -- cutler-ree
What is Rio's favorite branch of the government? --Judiciar-ree
What do you call it when Rio participates in a council? --Advisor-ree...
What do you call this list of Ree-words? --A dictionar-ree...

Get it? We do this a lot and it usually makes us laugh..but when I try to explain it.... I usually get a blank sort of look..

What do you think? I'm just weird huh? NO MEANIES!!!

ok - so maybe you're a lil weird - but aren't we all?? the most important thing is that you are having fun and it makes you laugh. laughing is healthy!

You are not weird. I am. But I guess we're all cuties since we love our kitty katty.
Anyway, just see what I've done.

There's an old French movie called "La Femme du Boulanger" (The Baker's wife) where the baker's wife elopes with another guy making her husband the joke of the town. When she decides to come back, he accepts her without saying a word but instead says all he has in his heart to their cat whose name is "Pomponnette".

A few weeks later, we found a little cat. Cuuute...It's my baby cat. But we call her Pomponnette. And whenever she is naughty I call her names just like he did to his Pomponnette.
Then I say "not my fault! It's in the classics!" which is true.

Who's weird now?

If it makes you laugh than its obviously funny. But I don't think its something so funny that you should be telling other people about it. Its one of those "you have to be there" situations. The being creative aspect is the fun, but not very interesting to tell the truth.

My dog's name is Buck. We call him Bucknaked (rather than butt naked) and Bucked-tooth-beaver and Bucky Dent (which I think is a tv character from back in the day). I understand your enjoyment in such a small thing

I think it may be a little strange but who isn't strange these days I think as long as it makes you laugh that is all that matters. We are all a little goofy in our own ways. The most important thing is to not care what other people think and live for yourselves. Who cares if other ppl don't get your joke.

I don't think it's weird at all. But then again, I always have different names for my animals as well. My last cat was named Bonzai because he used to run around the house and fly over the furniture and everytime he did I would yell "Bonzaiiiiiii!!!!!" LOL

My grandparents do things like that with their cat's name Disel (long story it was my cousin's cat that they found under a dumpster covered in gas) and George (a full bred MUTT they got free from Ames, he is the dumbest dog alive lol)

You're not completely weird! And besides we're all Polish lol

We make up nicknames, [ Beta - Max, Methasone, Mimetic ]
and [ Alpha - Bet, Fett, Elvis - lip gets stuck in a sneer ]
and both are purrball furballs!
'bad kitty' names, [ poopy and pukey ]
songs for different cat occasions [ grooming, calling, etc.]
not to mention cat games!

OK, yes it's weird, but also cute. You guys wouldn't go so far with the name thing unless there was real, genuine affection for your cat. Loving your animals is always OK in my book.

Not weird at all... I think all people do something funny or 'weird' with their pet's name or pet's nicknames... My parent's have a dog named Seumas or Pup pup... I say that Seumas-ater when my parent's ask where my sister went... Or I call him the Pupster Snupper....

I don't make up new words as much as I call my cat different names. Her name is Nodgie, but I call her Nodgifer, Nodge-Nodge, Nooger-Booger, and Furry Furry Princess. It is incredibly bizarre, but she's my baby.

She's named after my mom's old friend. Nodgie is a Native American name.
