My grandfather was a nuclear scientist at a nationally-known physics laboratory. When the bomb was being developed, he used to go to a military airport and pick up the nuclear material, then drive it in a suitcase (!) back to work. On some of these drives, my grandmother would accompany him and she'd ask what was in the suitcase. He wouldn't tell her until after WW2 was over. I'm pretty sure that, when he finally told her, he didn't mention the devil -- otherwise, she would have told me at some point.

But the devil influences peoples' thoughts and desires; he loves to bend us away from good toward evil.

So the answer to your question is: no AND yes.

p.s. -- my grandfather died at the young age of 55.

The devil never created anything. He is only a theif. He is trying to steal it to his own uses and has been trying to steal it ever since it came into play. Did God create it? I might be able to make that argument but I think the truth is that He revealed the knowledge to the men He chose rather than to Hitler's people or the Japanese. Both were trying to discover the secrets but were "inspired" to abandon the research in favor of other ways of winning the war.

Ever since we ate the fruit from the tree of knowledge, we have been trying to figure things out. Maybe we are too smart for our own good. What we do with the knowledge we have is a choice we make.If a parent put an erector set in front of a child, is the parent to blame if the child builds a weapon of war?

I guess for me, I would have to say anything created that can hurt all living things is not good, I believe we all need to learn about compassion in this world today, trying to hurt things to me is wrong and the atomic bomb can hurt many things, it scares me to think, that one day maybe someone will just say ah the hell with it let's just do it and then it will be the end, I don't like that someone has that power, I really and truly wish we could all have more compassion and get along, there really is enough of everything to go around in this world for us all to be happy!

I'm not religious, but consider this: the presence of atomic weapons deter world wars. They can't stop the regional or internal conflicts, though.

God gave man intelligence and free will, man then made the bomb. Don't ask a question and then not allow us to give the answer.
