Jesus said his Church would be "the light of the world." He then noted that "a city set on a hill cannot be hid" (Matt. 5:14). This means his Church is a visible organization. It must have characteristics that clearly identify it and that distinguish it from other churches. Jesus promised, "I will build my Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it" (Matt. 16:18). This means that his Church will never be destroyed and will never fall away from him. His Church will survive until his return.
Only the Catholic Church existed in the tenth century, in the fifth century, and in the first century, faithfully teaching the doctrines given by Christ to the apostles, omitting nothing. The line of popes can be traced back, in unbroken succession, to Peter himself. This is unequaled by any institution in history.
Jesus established only one Church, not a collection of differing churches (Lutheran, Baptist, Anglican, and so on). The Bible says the Church is the bride of Christ (Eph. 5:23–32). Jesus can have but one spouse, and his spouse is the Catholic (Universal) Church.
Although some Catholics dissent from officially-taught doctrines, the Church’s official teachers—the pope and the bishops united with him—have never changed any doctrine. Over the centuries, as doctrines are examined more fully, the Church comes to understand them more deeply ("12 I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. 13 But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. John 16:12–13), but it never understands them to mean the opposite of what they once meant.
Just my opinion...

It does not have to have a name. First, the verse you cite may claim Peter as the "head," [stress may], but since Peter was married, that let's out the Roman Catholic Church, if that's where you were going. (Just one reason of many.)
Then you have to look at the makeup of the congregation in the first years of the church. It was made up of Jews for several years and then gentiles began to be converted, but it was never given an official denominational name by Jesus or anyone else.

It did not have one. Paul quickly took it over and popular the Orthodox Church. The Catholic one replaced into popular in 1054 while the Pope excommunicated all of the different patriarchs for not recognizing him as God's mouthpiece. The Mormon Church likes to declare that it is Jesus' present day one nevertheless. :)

The Church is not based on flesh and blood [man] it is built on the Holyspirit...it reveals and tells man how and what is to be done. God said upon this rock I will build my church. Peter knew who Jesus was. Why? Because the spirit of God revealed it to him. Matthew 16:18.

The Roman Catholics claim they are the church that Jesus founded, however they changed, and made speculations on how things should be ran and taught. One example being that the Bible indicates a baptism of immersion, Catholics do not do this. Mormons believe the church Jesus founded was lost and reestablished in these latter days as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. As far as actual doctrine goes, their beliefs are the most parallel to the teachings of Jesus. They even believe in and follow a living prophet. They have twelve apostles as authorities of their church, and they have sacred temples.

For those that answered "the body of believers," this is not completely true. This cannot be the answer because so many have different dogma and doctrine and beliefs. It does not make sense to have a unified body of non-unified bodies.
The Church that Jesus founded is the Catholic Church as is made clear by history, succession, Tradition, belief, teachings, and Scripture.

Jesus never gave the Congregation a name. At first it was referred to as "The Way" -Acts 9:1, 2
Later they were, by divine provision, called " Christians". -Acts 11:26
The Bible clearly shows that the congregation in Bible times was structured and that the members met together for encouragement (Hebrews 10:24, 25; 13:17; Revelation 1:11).
Today, there are around 6,000 different religions that claim to be the original set up by Jesus. Therefore, every religion has a name to set it apart from other professed Christians (for example: Catholic, Baptist, Protestant, etc.). From my study of the Bible, comparing what the Bible really shows about true Christians and the way they live their life, I am convinced that the true "way" is the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. -Isaiah 43:10, 12

That is not not necessarily true.
Why give it a name, then people will just fight over who is running the real church and who is entitled to use the name.
Geez, they do that anyway, even without a name!

The followers of christ were first called Nazarenes
And they met in private homes, not in church buildings
" For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes"
(Acts 24:5)
ADDITIONAL Comments:
They later were called christians.
. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
(Acts 11:26)
