I was a new coworker in her dream, had a cane, and was unstable. She says she had an attraction to me, but not sexual one, in the dream. She also wanted to hold me in it.
The impression I have is one of her having empathy for me as I was in her dream.
What could the dream be about?

It could very well be that your co-worker is either your soulmate or someone you were very close to in a past life.
The reason you might be handicapped in her dream may symbolize the fact that you have an old soul. Is there times when people have told you that you act older than what you are? Do you feel like an old man?
You are very correct with your interpretation for having empathy for you. The two of you have been through quite a bit in your past lives. She has deep admiration for you and respect for you. But your soul is getting old and tired and when your time is done on this earth, you will no longer be coming back. But her soul will continue to come back.

It may seem like she has some sort of expectation from you. However, due to the fact that you didn't satisfy her need in dream. Projecting yourself as handicapped could hint two meanings.
1. The way she sees in real life, you could be someone that she think you are not capable of doing certain things. Seeing you as handicapped show how much comparison she has in you and perhaps, she expected a little more from you.
2. She may just want to shed her feeling to those who needs help. To her, subconsciously the real help are those who are handicapped. Maybe she wants to show her proud ego and show her what she can do. Instead of putting herself up, she is putting others down to sign her proud ego.
Either explanation, only she will know exactly which she belongs.

Yeah, your friends dreams represent her being able to see you "hindered" in areas of your life and that she is compassionate and supportive of issues you are dealing with in your life.
