What would really happen if the US pulled all the troops out of the Middle East?

I am honestly asking because I don't know anything about the politics of war. I really want to understand why the US doesn't just leave. I'm sure there must be a reason for this, and I'd like to know what it is.

I am genuinely asking with no agenda and nopreconcieved notions.

If you are going to be mean to me, or call me names, please don't answer.

Okay, I understand the thought that close to 4000 American troops would have died for nothing if the US pulled out now, but would they really have died for nothing? I mean, the Dictatorship is gone, and the world is aware of the threat, so something has been accomplished.

If US troops leave now, the current Iraqi government would have little chance of surviving for 30 days. I give them 2 weeks at most. Most will be killed by car bombs and suicide assassins. The rest go underground or escape the country, or those with guns become local warlords.

Then the entire country turns into total chaos, as factional fighting increase to unimaginable levels. Shiites vs. Sunnis vs. Kurds. Instead of dozens dead daily, we get hundreds if not THOUSANDS dead daily. Of Iraqis, of course. But our folks would be safe.

If we're LUCKY, the country splits into three or more pieces. Kurds, Sunnis in the triangle, and Shiites all around. Then all the surrounding countries put out their agents (indeed, who's to say they haven't already) and entice the pieces to join up. In other words, no more Iraq, just pieces to be absorb by neighbors like Iran. If not lucky, the whole region is one anarchic mess.

And by that time, Iran or some neighboring country would invade the place in the name of securing its borders, and in return, grab all the oil for themselves. But they don't need the rest of the country.

So the rest of the country gets infiltrated by Al-qaeda since nobody is in charge. There is no central government, no law except law of the gun and so on. Most of the equipment US left for the Iraqi military will be turned against us, such as in Afghanistan, or be shipped else and used to hit targets such as our own embassies and whatnot. Imagine the irony: US weapons used to hit US targets!

Should I go on?

To leave Iraq would have serious consequences fo the U.S. defence industry which is enjoying a massive flood of tax dollars. None of this would have been necessary if your silly old God hadn't messed up and put American oil under other peoples countries. Never mind at least the oil barons are seeing a record price for their remaining oil. It couldn't have worked out better for them if they were running the country. Hang on a mo!
Must just make a small point about removing dictators. Americas usual deal with dictators is to put them into power not remove them. How about Nicaragua? America helped overthrow the democratic government in order to install a dictatorship.

Nature abhors a vacuum and one would be created by withdrawing. All of the surrounding nations would begin to take the parts of Iraq that border them.Turkey would surely invade and occupy on a permanent basis that part of Iraq called Kurdistan.Iran would come in from the east and take it.Syria would take what it could get.
There would cease to be any Iraq.It would become vassal states.
The World will stand by and watch it happen. It will be too scared and intimidated to intervene.
Do not think that gasoline would not cost 10 dollars a gallon. How is that for a consequence?Iraq is surrounded by dictators who would carve it up.
It would be Rwanda all over again.

Once we all realize that it is not a fluke that we are where we are, but in fact a well crafted manipulation of our foreign policy to perpetuate the war for the last fossil fuels, all will become clearer... Neither Republicans, nor Democrats are willing to do what is right, we are not leaving the Middle East anytime soon. Why? because the BIG OIL says so, that's why.
We are by modest estimates at least 20 years behind in our research into alter-fuels, that's a fact. It is a better business decision for the elite, to stay in Iraq and then go into Iran.

If we pulled out, it would temporarily destabalize Iraq, but that is going to happen whenever we pull out. The argument that we have invested 4,000 lives and can't waste them now is the most stupid argument ever. It's like losing $4,000 on a slot machine and continuing to play because you don't want to lose the investment. Only in Iraq, we can never get them back. We can completely pull out of the Middle East and the region would be fine, perhaps even better. Every argument to stay is weak, immoral, and stupid.

'propaganda " at this point . its gone to far we now will frlip and discuss and debate this forever , much like the veitnam war. one fact that should be noted here is that our vise pres. before he was pres. was a big shot for mobil oil co.

Consider the Nazis:

If Hitler had died as a child, would there be no German National Socialism, no Anti-Semitism?

There are very few cases in history where the dictator is dictating something alien to popular opinion.

If we pull out now, before Democracy takes a firm hold, the next dictator will simply step in and assume power.

I think we should pull SOME troops out, not all. The middle eastern countries has been in war with eachother for thousands of years. Basically no matter what we do is going to stop them from killing each other over there.

Mass genocide on an unprecedented scale. Loss of U.S. military prestige. Continued destabilization of international oil markets.
