okay so in may i asked to go to drivers ed-so get could get my permit. my mom kept saying "well see" so when the time came my step dad said yes and he said that im my mom's little baby& that she doesnt want to see me driving and its a big step for her. SO i went to drivers ed, &after i completed it a certificate in the mail was supposed to come about 3 days later so i could then go to the DMV & get my permit...well a week later nothing showed up, & i kept asking my mom if it came in and she kept saying "NOO KELLY! NO" well i had a feeling she wasnt giving it to me, & she kept mail in the box on the fridge where she keeps my sisters mail(she doesnt live with us)& other mail my mom doesnt open & stuff. so when my mom left 1 day i looked in the box on top of the fridge & what do you know!there is my certifcate!!i was so mad so i asked her about it & she goes "i thought it was your sisters" but c'mon! she always gives me mail to me!&right on the envelope it said "certificate blala"

i think your step dad nailed it when he said your mom doesn't want to see you grow up. being a mother i can understand her position....but if you want to win her over just let her know what a responsible young lady you are and how having a drivers license is very important to you...she will give in.just don't yell or sneak behind her to do anything...be kind and understand that your mom loves you. good luck

It sounds like your mom really doesn't want you to drive. Was she like this with your sister? Maybe you should talk to your step-dad about it. He seemed to understand your side. I'm curious where you live because you don't need an SS card in WV. You do have to have a birth certificate and school enrollment form. Call the Motor Vehicles office and ask what you need to have and if there's anything you can use instead of an SS card.

Uh, psycho mom! What a control freak! That's pretty low. Being an adult, especially a parent, means having the maturity to see those you care about along in life-even if you do not agree or like what it is they are doing.
She blatantly ignored your wishes and the things in your best interest while lying and deceiving you.
Unfortunately I feel this is the tip of the iceberg. If she does this for a driving permit (lame) who knows what she'll do when it comes to more vital issues in your life.
I suggest doing whatever you can now to alleviate this situation (therapy basically) before you end up resenting her your whole adult life while paying out the butt expensive therapy seeing to your shrink while also fending off a pack a day cigarette addiction.
Good luck!

I just received a ss card in the mail the other days and all I had to do was go to Social Security and show and ID and then they mailed me the new one, no shots!!! She is trying to keep the apron strings around your neck.

It does sound like she's dragging her feet on this, maybe like your step dad says it's a big step to see her baby grow up and she's just trying to sweep it under the rug. But, there are some things you need to keep up with for yourself......such as your own social security card.

maybe she's not worried about you driving, maybe she's worried about other drivers! I got my DL at 16 and didn't drive as often. my mother wouldn't let me drive because she was worried about other drivers out there on the roads. one of her friend lost her daughter in a car accident due to another person's mistake. my mom's friend daughter was only 7 and the driver of the other car was a teenager.

Unfortunately those things happen and It does seem unfair. Your mom should have given those things to you and you are right to be upset about it. I would let your mom know how you feel but, be respectful and she will respect you in return.

your mother is reluctant to see you driving for whatever reason.

perhaps You or your step dad could call the doctor's office for these records... and stop by to pick them up when they are ready.

take care.

Driving is a privilege, not a right. You will drive when your parents are ready for you to drive and not before!!
