Yea it's a pretty dumb belief. Some smart cop probably lied and told a drug dealer or two that his cousin was a cop and you would have to tell the perp. Probably netted a few too.
Silly bad guys.

Would it of been any funnier for you had the bombs truthfully long past off and killed men and women? When you are living in a society like ours within the UK, you think in faraway bombs sitting in parked automobiles considering that our nation has a historical past of terrorism attatched to it, its no longer fine however thats how it's. So whilst the police say there used to be a vehicle full of ample petrol and nails to take out a well mass of men and women then you definately think it, humorous isnt the phrase Id use. Was it humorous for us to not have believed within the underground bombings, or the bombs the IRA might plant in crowded browsing centres on a Saturday afternoon to create a smuch havoc and dying of blameless men and women? You my pal are a dimwitted buffoon who has both published this question rationale you already know its going to spark a deluge of men and women calling you an fool or you're critically thick as 2 quick planks.

That might have been true at some point in the past. But the Supreme Court fairly recently determined (I forget the actual name of the case) that it isn't illegal for a cop to lie in the course of an investigation. Of course, allowing cops to lie had the side effect of reducing the public's trust and respect for them even further.

That would have to be the stupidest thing anyone would do. I don't know why prostitutes would ask the same thing when stopping customers, too. Of course, the undercover cop would lie and say no here.

It's Hollywood's fault. In a couple of their big cop movies, they threw that in for "dramatic effect", and of course everyone knows, if it's in a movie, it MUST be true...

Usually people get these ideas from television and hold them to be legally true in real life as well.

It used to be entrampment, because yes they if asked had to tell the truth,
but it did and doesn't matter because either way you were putting them on notice.

I understand what you are saying, but I do not find stupidity, or ignorance amusing.
