If you have had a lead test done recently, get a copy of the lead test and take it to the nearest health department, and show them what was found, make sure to keep copies of the report for yourself. Stop paying the rent, you should not be paying rent on an apartment that has lead in it. Technically who ever did the lead test on the building should have contacted him, because the house should have been condemned until all of the lead has been removed. Try to find another place if you can. But if you have the reports of the lead testing, that is your best weapon, show those reports to the health department, and to the department of social services, and remember keep a copy for your own records. Should your baby get sick, keep every medical report as well. But get you and your baby out of there fast, every time you send a letter or phone call to your landlord about the removal of the lead, get a copy of it for your records listing the date, and time you called and wrote him. Good luck and God Bless. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING :)

Report him...it needs to be up to code to rent and lead paint is an issue he/she needs to address. Keep that baby away from the paint as much as possible and begin making arrangements to move if he insists on not complying. Best of luck...and keep safe!

Be certain the "lead" you are writing about is indeed there, and is illegal. If you care for your child, you will move immediately. Be certain also before you sue, or you may find yourself counter-sued, and looking for a place to live at the same time.

go to the landlord again and let him know that after this mtg youare giving him a certain amount of time to fix it or you will be suing. Meanwhile, leave until you resolve the issue. you wouldn't want your baby getting sick waiting on your slum lord!

Where I live, the law states that I don't have to pay rent until things like that are fixed. Go to your county and read the landlord/tenant laws.

Small claims court or you could put your rent money in a secured escrow account and refuse to pay until they fix it. You're talking about your baby's health here so I would move and sue.

I think by law he has to fix it but by the time that went thru the legal process your child could be damaged. You need to move.
