I already have XP installed and just want to have Vista too. Can I install it on the same drive C: without any disk partition and additional software? will it work?

but... i remember that I had Win98 and Xp on the same drive without any addition software and it was ok............

no u cannot, unless u want to install vista over xp. u would need to partition the drive if u want to use both os's.

Yes you can have XP and Vista on the same drive but not in the same partition. Before even attempting to install Vista best to check that your computer has the resources to run it, Microsoft have a Vista Advisor on their site that will analyse your machine and tell you what if anything you need to upgrade before installing Vista.

Hi!,

You can have both of them on the same drive provided you are upgrading XP to Vista. If you are looking at having two operating systems on the same system it is always advised to have them installed on two different drives to avoid conflicts. Moreover Vista needs lots of disk space. This is another reason why it is recommended to install vista on another drive. This is not only for XP and Vista. This holds good if you want to have 2 different operating systems on the same system. Hope this answers your question. I am not getting technical here. But if you want you can get back to me.
