Both I think are pretty trashy, and I would think that the tongue would be a bigger deal with the swelling and embarassment of talking for a few weeks, but you have to check places around your area; some won't pierce you until a certain age and i'm pretty sure it's not 15

Must you? I mean it used to be a cute way of expressing your individuality, but now EVERYONE has these piercings. It's so been done.

With belly button piercings, any type of waist band can rub and irritate the piercing. I know more people who have had to remove their belly button ring because of this. Also they can take up to a year to heal.

With tongue rings, because it is in your mouth, it can be prone to more infection. You cannot kiss anyone for at least 2 weeks afterward.

Below I've linked a site about oral piercing that lists the risks, pros and cons and explains exactly what is done.

Well I'd personally recommend almost any other piercing besides a navel piercing because I've been having so many friggen issues with mine. I've never had this many problems with a piercing before. The navel piercing is located in a slightly risky area because it is in a position where it can be knocked around a lot (and it will get knocked around a lot), accidentally get pulled on, get dirty, etc...

My navel piercing has been infected at least once. Now there's a bump of scar tissue on it from getting bumped so much. Not to mention that it's gotten accidentally hit a lot and each time it's always painful.

Tongue piercings I've heard give people issues with talking, and in the beginning stages they can only eat certain food. Not to mention that you could quite easily bite on the jewelry and chip your teeth. I've also seen pictures where there's a large build up of scar tissue underneath the skin.

I'm am SO fed up with my navel piercing that I'm pretty close to recommending you get your tongue pierced. Not to mention, I've had this navel piercing for 7 freakin months and it isn't anywhere close to healing. I'd take it out if it didn't mean there'd be a BIG UGLY SCAR there.

That's my two cents.

half the people I know that have gotten their belly button pierced have had it gotten infected. A tongue piercing is much easier to care for because you mouth heals very fast. All you have to do to keep it clean is to use mouth wash. The only down side to piercing your tongue is that you tongue swells a bit for the first couple of days which makes eating awkward. Getting your belly button pierced is also more painful.

I would get a belly ring. Both tongue and belly piercings a needle is used. Tongues swell but heal quickly if you use the right jewelry, but metal jewlery in the mouth may damage gums and chip the enamel surface on your teeth. If you get your belly button pierced get it done in the winter less chance of getting infected. Your belly button should do fine as long as you clean it.

I've had a lot of friends have major problems with the belly button piercing. As for the tongue, do you really want to lisp? Many of my friends chose to take theirs out after just a year. It's a waste of money if you ask me.

Belly Buttons get infected.

Tongue piercings chip teeth, make you talk funny, and get in the way.

I got my belly button pierced when I turned 20. It did get infected, despite me taking very good care of it. It cleared up after a few days, though, and I was very happy with it.

I personally hate tongue rings. I think they are trashy. At least with a belly button ring you can show it off OR cover it up.

I know someone who had his butt stapled shut....
Bad infection....

Ok Im lying. But I got a bellybutton ring back in 1995 (Im generation X...what do u expect) and had it for like, 6 years...then one night I got too drunk and ripped it on the button of my pants(OUCH!!!!)

It got infected and had to be removed.

And no, I am not lying. I still have the scar.

I amjust saying don't make a hasty decision over something that other people tell you is "cool" or "cute" or whatever. Who cares what anyone else thinks anyway. YOu are only 15....Isn't it illegal for anyone under 16? If not, it's silly. Wait a few more years....then if you STILL want it byall means, knockyourself out, sista...

I personally have a thing for tattoos...

Honestly, like someone else mentioned I always thought tongue piercings were trashy and gross, so I would have to go with the belly button ring. It looks much cuter.
