Pedophilia exists among clergymen for the same reason it exists among the general population -- it's a disordered sexual development.
Men who act out this disorder on kids -- or who even just have an orientation toward it -- have no place in the clergy, whether it's Catholic or Protestant or whatever.
It's interesting how, at least among the Catholic clergy, most of their victims (at least 80%) were a) boys, and b) postpubescent.
This makes it much less a pedophilia problem, and much more a homosexual one.

You have to remember, we are all humans and as humans we have many faults. Now these priests that are pedophiles are obviously sick, but then again, just like priests that gets caught cheating on their wives or caught trying to pick up hookers, they fall. They are not fully living for Christ. That's why the bible says not everyone who cries Jesus Jesus will get into heaven. They might believe in God and his wrath but they are weak...They allow themselves to be drawn in into sin.

I think it's an easy answer. They have to live lives of celibacy. They're friggin' horny. Sexual desire is probably the strongest human impulse. A lot of people are looking for a different anwer but I really don't think there is one. They need to bust a nut and think they can get away with it with kids. Sick? Yes. True? I think so.

anyone who is sick enough to mess with a kid has no true concept of a god or decency i think anyone who commits child rape should be shot in the head and their dead body hung by the road with a sign saying ive been cured......
