Some people I know did something, and I got taken to the police station and had to give them a written statement -- or so they told me. Is it possible for me to somehow retract that statement? Because, I think it's the only evidence they have.

It depends, if you do they will want to know why, and if you tell them that you lied, you could be charged with obstruction of justice.
You might be wise to talk to a lawyer for the proper answer, and how to go about it.

If you really want to do this, contact the prosecutors office and tell them you've been thinking about your statement and now you're not sure if it's correct. You thought so at the time, but the police were putting a lot of pressure on you and you felt more or less compelled to tell them what they seemed to want you to say. You are now not sure at all about the details of what happened and are unwilling to swear an oath in court that your testimony is accurate. If you are serious in what you say and the DA doesn't want to cooperate, tell the defence attorney.

You need to seek the advise of an attorney. It is possible to retract a statement. It's like saying to the cops "Yea, I did it" and then later telling them "I don't really want to tell you that."

Yer nabbed.

If it is a felony charge, get an attorney. Period.

if it was under oath and truthful, why retract it anyway? are you being threatened? if so, call the cops. if you were under duress, retract it on that basis.
