I chose St. Agnes of Prague when I was confirmed at age 38 for a variety of reasons. First, she had a mission to help out the poor, which is a cause I dearly love and try to fulfill in my own life. She is the patroness of laundry-workers (because she spent so much time washing and mending clothing for the poor), and since I do a lot of laundry, I thought that was appropriate. And finally, I was looking for "Agnes" because my Catholic grandmother had wanted all of us girls to be named Agnes (after her mother) and my mom refused...and also refused to raise us Catholic. So by me taking the name Agnes of Prague, I thought it was a way to help ease my grandmother on that score.
My husband is a book-loving poet of Irish descent, so he chose Saint Columkille, the Irish, book-loving, poetry-writing saint.
I'm sure if you think about the things you are most interested in, you can come up with a whole list of saints to choose from. Ask God to help you find one (ask Saint Anthony, the patron of finding things to help, too --might as well).
You don't have to stick to the same gender as you, btw. Good luck!

That is a good question. I have chosen a Canadian Saint, Margeurite Bourgeois, as an example of endurance, constancy, honesty, high morals, what a woman can accomplish and still worship God. Margeurite Bourgeois came to Canada and helped found this country. She organised and took care of all the young women that came here, contributed to her community, dealt with the hardships in winter, fed the poor, took care of the sick and wounded and she was an all around charitable human being. She was the standard that women looked up to in that century (16th). It would take a book to write down all her virtues. You might find another patron saint to your liking, but she has done things for me and she really is a saint.

You haven't chosen yet! We had to choose months ago.! I chose Gabriel the Archangel because he was kind of like God's right hand man. He was always delivering incredibly important messages such as the birth of John the Baptizer and Jesus.

St. Francis becuase I like animals so much and he preached peace everywhere he went. List some things that describe you. For example if you sing a lot then St. Cecilia would be for you and etc.
