Well, don't know. I know hospitals have to take you anyway, and cannot turn you down for not having insurance.
Unfortunately, I heard Bush was going to veto some legislation related to children's health insurance.
If you could get a job, many times the employer has reasonably priced health insurance as a benefit.
Also most town have free health clinics, and will give free shots, etc.
Some states have programs that will help low income. You might try doing a search on ther internet with words like "low income health insurance" and then the name of your state.

Depending on what state you are in, there are usually public health programs. I know there are in California if you take the time to look. I would go to your state's website and do a search on free public heath care. There's a chance there will only be free health care available for your munchkin, but even that is better than nothing.
If there isn't anything in your area, maybe go to a hospital and ask the billing department what a good, cheap insurance company is that they commonly deal with. That way you know from someone who deals with them regularly whether or not they offer fair coverage.
Good luck!

If you got rejected for medicaid, see about Child Health Plus or Family Health Plus. If you have a branch of Maternal Infant Services Network near you (look in the phone book, I know of a branch in Orange County, but that's too far for you to schlep up if you don't have to!) they can help you with all the paperwork and what the requirements are.

Well, it's GOING to cost $200 a month for you. That's what it costs.
You can check with your state children's health insurance plan to see if your son can qualify, based on your no income. It's medicaid, but with more lenient income guidelines, for just children.

It all depends on what state you live in. All states have different programs.
You can also call your local hospital's billing department, they know about a lot of programs available in your area that can assist you and your son. They can point you in the right direction.

you may not be able to find health insurance but your baby needs it- go back and re-apply for medicaid just for him.
