Potato Salad or Macaroni salad. Grilled Corn on the Cob. Chips and Dip. A green salad. Plus something cool for dessert like a lemon cheesecake.

I love a really nice grilled vegetable salad with aspargus, tomatoes, red peppers, red onion, yellow squash, then toss it all in a balsamic vinegarette.....it is always a crowd pleaser! Or else what my family calls silage, but it is cabbage finley sliced, sunflower seeds, one bag of ramen noodles crushed, 1/2 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of cider vin, 1/2 cup oil, and 1/2 of the ramen seasoning packet, and some salt if needed....it is ALWAYS a hit and a new take on cole slaw!

bbq with hamburgers and hotdogs? dont forget the coleslaw, the pasta salad, and some fries! or how about nachos?
get the sauces too, like honey-mustard, some bleu-cheese (or any cheese) for the burgers
i'd suggest a fruit punch and beers!

I love all the traditional southern favorites such as baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad ( made w/ both mayo & mustard), cucumber salad, grilled corn on the cob, chili, etc......Pick two or three of your favorites depending on your guests.
A couple of your guests may call & ask if they can bring something - don't be shy, let them pitch in with one of their specialty dishes - it's considered almost rude down south to not let your guests contribute & it will take a little of the work off of you as the host......
Don't forget plenty of ice cold watermelon, ice for drinks, paper plates & utensils.......And most of all, have plenty of beer and soft drinks for all.
Enjoy!!

Baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad, green salad(if unable to keep cold--No Mayo).Corn on cob, roasted Italian and yellow squash with purple onion(I put them in a foil pouch with ice cubes and seasonings).Watermelon for last.Just go in your fridge and get left over veggies and make a real pasta salad, use everything once washing off and draining.Hope this helps...

Corn on the cob, chips, fixing like cheese, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, maybe a can of "no bean" chili for the hot dogs; watermelon; maybe some brownies. Homemade ice cream would be fun, but you might not have a maker and it's a lot of work. Have fun--you don't need anything spectacular.

stuffed jalapenos
get fresh jalepenos, cut them in 2, length wise and take the seeds out,
put cream cheese in the peppers, if you like you can mix baby shrimp, landrys season salt, or deer meat in the cream cheese
wrap pepper with a 1/2 strip, cut width ways, of bacon
grill, pepper will not be hot at all really after its grilled, just flavor
you will be able to tell when they are done, the pepper will just look cooked
easy

the usual stuff (baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, etc) is okay, but try some steamed fresh veggies like yellow squash, zucchini, cauliflower, carrots. then saute in a little butter, salt, and garlic.
