No. In order to view HD channels you have to have an HD box and without an HDTV the channels will not show up.

UPDATE: I plugged my DirectTV HD box into my regular TV and it does not show the channels.

I don't know if I believe that.

1st To rcv HD OTA channels U need an HD tuner, which your set won't have. So that is out.

2nd To rcv HD on cable or sat U need an HD box which has video outputs of various types.
If your set has matching inputs, then u can put the video into your set - what it does with it is another issue. The sync signal may mess it all up.

If u try it, be advised that it could mess up your TV.
