I am agnostic. I don't believe in any of the scriptural religions, but I have not dismissed the possibility of an intelligence that permeates the Universe, since the world is so well ordered. I found out that this belief I hold is similar to "pantheism".
I think all the Abrahamic religions are man made, and all their scriptures are written by men. I do not believe any of these scriptures were written by God, but are a documentation of man's struggle to understand God. I find a mixture of Good & Bad in the Bible, and all other man made attempts to define, describe, or understand God, because there is Good & Bad in mankind. So of course, their writings are going to reflect their dual nature.
I think most Christians are very good & decent people, and I believe most people in general are good & decent people. No disrespect intended, but I think many religious people, are good & decent IN SPITE of some of the dark parts of their scripture, but since their IS a dark side to their scripture, these basicly good & decent people rationalize them away, but saying things like "Those laws no longer apply" or "those verses are taken out of context". I think this is indicative of their basicly benevolent nature. When their deeply held religious beliefs and their moral nature collide, something has to give, and this is usually resolved by interpreting the dark side of their scriptures as no longer valid. I know I will get a ton of thumbs down for saying this, but HONESTLY, I mean no disrespect, this is just my opinion, in answer to this question.
I think people who are basically bad, will seize on the dark part of the scriptures and manipulate others to do so. I think the bible verses regarding slavery was on factor that has allowed slavery to exist.

My take on the Christian religion is something I have to be very careful wording or I could get banned.
I think Christianity is utterly ridiculous. I don't see how anyone could possibly be stupid enough to believe anything it speaks of.
