There is me. I just, for the life of me, beleive in such things as religion or spirtuality, or an after life, etc. Others do, but I do not. What is it exactly that sets us apart?

I think there is a difference between being religious and spiritual. I believe I am spiritual moreso than religious. I cannot buy into the organized religions. I wish that I could, but I can't. Its not even because I don't believe the same things, etc. its because I have never felt welcomed by any church that I have ever been to. They are not stimulating to me.

I think some people have a need to believe in something more, especially when things happen that you have no control over. It is nice to think that someone or some thing is up there watching over you, and that your soul is going some place when you die. It explains our existence and the point of life.

And others, like you, are maybe content with life just as life without having some greater need to explain the way things happen or where you will go when you die.

I think it is the need to explain the point of life.

Mac: Firstly; I appreciate your sincerity in your question. Now, to the response. I would say, that "religious" or religion is inherent in all humans around this world. A religion is anything you serve i.e. sex, drugs, cars, booze, homes, careers, education, intellectualism, money (the BIG one), self (ego), music, etc., etc. ! "Religion" is self-centered - about CON-forming. "Spirituality" is the opposite direction. It moves away from the self. It is God making you apart of His world rather, than people making God apart of theirs. It is about TRANS-formation of the mind set. It is about relationship based in faith, grace and Jesus Christ. To more directly answer your question, what "exactly sets us apart" is God - more specifically, God factors into the "equation" by "drawing" or "calling" an individual to Him for a relationship (it's found in the Bible re: John chapter 6, verse 44), therefore, a person called a Christian is set apart (sanctified) for a Holy purpose or objective. The Holy Spirit enables the Christian to TRANS-form the mind set into line with God's way of thinking and execution of those thoughts - in Godly love - it's a process !!! This is why, the "uncalled" - the non-believer can not comprehend the existence of God, the validity of the Holy Bible nor the ways of Christianity.
Hope this answers your question sufficiently enough !

Actually it's the other way around...

2Co 1:21 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God,
2Co 1:22 who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge.

God is in everyone's heart, it is man's free will that some choose to ignore Him.

Well lets see, theres no fast anwser to a question like that. There is The Devil and there is God. The devil is the one who is making you think that God doesent exist, because then when you die, you will go to hell with him to have forever pain, instead of having forever peace and happieness with God in heaven when you die! The Devil wants you to go to hell, because God loves you and the Devil h8s God, so, because the Devil is too weak to harm God, he harms us, whitch in turn harms God. The bible says that all the joy of Earth being like working the field compared to the joy of heaven, and all the pain of the world being like a paper cut compared to hell! I see no proof that would lead me to become religious. I see other people believing in spirits and holy leaders, but I personally can't find proof.

It's not what is inside me - it's the actions and behaviour of the religious that proves religion is a fraud.

It's honesty. I can't bring myself to say I believe in something that I can't say with all honesty is true.
