Spouses and children can live with army personnel during AIT only if the training lasts longer than 6 months as in the case of Monterey Bay, where Soldiers learn to speak another language for a year.
regarding deployment, no one can say for sure. there are too many variables. It would depend on his MOS, the unit he's going to, whether they've been there before and how long ago, and of course the outcome of the political turmoil ongoing now.

While he is off at basic and AIT you are on your own - Basic you will get a few phone calls, but they will be few and very short, but letters will flow. AIT (depending on his MOS) may be a little more relaxed and may have more phone privilages. If your AIT is over 20 weeks, they will move you - but again it depends on the MOS (my husbands is over 20 weeks, but due to the secutiry nature of his MOS - he will very rarely have time to see me so we have opted not go with him and just visit - we are close enough that we can make a long weekend out of it. If he is a linguist, his time at the DLI in Monetery is not an AIT (they are just giving the language - thejob training is afterwards), but the military will PCS you since the shortest language is 6 mo, but his AIT is considered a temporary duty station and so if his AIT is pver 20 weeks, they will TDY you (meaning you don't get all you stuff shipped - there are other housing options such as furnished houses etc - go look at the myarmylifetoo web site). Most AIT's are little 11 weeks, again depends on MOS - it will be tough on all of you to be away for that long, but it is worth it in the end. Go to his graduations and write lots of letters. Yes he can go to Iraq - no one knows who goes until they are called up, and in the Army any MOS can go. I would suggest getting him a lap top with a camera in it so you can communicate easily. Good luck, I understand what you are going through.

You cant live with him unless his AIT is 6 plus months ( Ft.Sam Houston), I am an ANG Soldier and an Armywife (10 1/2 yrs),
There are no safe MOS' or Posts meaning it is possible he will be deployed .. Almost everyone I was in AIT&BCT ( in 2006) are deployed or about to go, both Regular Army,Reserves, and Guard.

I wish you the best of luck congrads on the Baby !!!

No you can not live with him during AIT. And there is always that possibility of him going to Iraq. It will depend on if his unit's status whether they have gone, will go, just got back or is over there right now. And it'll depend on his MOS. If his MOS is in demand, but his unit just got back, then he stands the chance of getting cross-leveled to another unit that is getting ready to go.

no, family members may not join the Servicemember at AIT unless it is for longer than 6 months

Whether he goes to Iraq.. and when, will depend on numerous factors.. his job, his unit, and the scheduled rotation of his unit.

expect it to happen though.

He will be going to a regular Army post for training and school. It is possible to get housing for married couples but NOT guaranteed. It is possible for him to go anywhere. Depends on weather he is needed or not. When I was in the guard I only left town to go to summer camp 2 weeks a year. Things have changed. Happy Caving Good luck Thank you and your husband for the support to this country

AIT, no. You will get separation pay though. As soon as he gets out you can live together.
