I always feel rude if I don't invite them in, only people I know that is,but my two little dogs usually make a lot of noise so people can see it is not always convenient to ask them in.

No I do not think it is if the conversation is just a quick question, answer or a message. If it is a stranger they do not usually get past the front door. (I can not remember in over 30 years anyone who did)

hmmm depends. I think so. I would feel offended if it happened to me but it depends on the nature of the visit.

It does freak out Jehovahs Witnesses. They visited my house a few years back. I was at a loose end so invited them in. They refused, looked worried and left. Everytime they came to the street after that they avoided my house. Odd behaviour I thought. Oh well.

If it was my husband, my best friend or my children then yes. Anyone else and they're probably in a rush or just don't want to impose.

No. If they don't know you, they may not want to impose on you or they may not want to get into a difficult situation. And you should not invite strangers into your house. You never know.

It might be rude, but Jehovah's Witnesses have got wise to "come in and discuss it" ruse.

If it is a short conversation, it's fine, if it's going to take hours, tell them to come in or get lost.

Not really - after all they have to look after their own safety as you look after yours, but would you really be silly enough to invite a stranger into your home????
