I filed taxes, and was supposed to get a tax return for paying too much, but since im self employed I have to proove it, and I didn;t recieve a letter to do so, and I haven't recieved a return in 3 yrs, although my accountant said I would, and calculated the amount too. Can I go to H&R block or somewhere to help me get my return? Or file for it somewhere? Thanks.

I think you need to go back to your accountant and ask what's going on. If your accountant is a CPA or an enrolled agent he/she is fully qualified to prepare your tax return.

You don't "get" a return, you FILE a return. Since you're self-employed, any excess that was paid in almost certainly was applied to the next year's tax liability instead of being refunded to you. That lowers your estimated tax payments and is almost universal practice.

Look at your tax returns. If it shows a refund due, it would have been mailed to you by the IRS. However it almost certainly shows that the overpayment has been applied to the next year's liability.

Don't waste your time going to Block, just ask your accountant what's going on. You really don't even need to do that, it's all there on your copy of your tax return in black and white.

BTW, you don't have to "proove" (SIC) anything to receive a refund. You just need to file a tax return that shows an overpayment with the option to have it refunded to you selected.

If you have paid a CPA to file your returns you should pressure him for copies of those returns if he did not already give them to you. Something sounds as if the returns were not filed properly or you really owed money. The other possibility is that you owed money for something else and the IRS is keeping your refund. You can call the IRS and they will be able to tell you if the returns have been filed.

No, don't go to H&R Block. Either call the IRS directly, or else go back to the accountant who did your taxes, and ask them what happened to your refund. If you send in quarterly payments with the proper paperwork so they knew who it was coming from, and you paid in more than you owed, then you should have gotten your refund.
