i don't see how his fears are relevant. Understanding the why of his answer likely isn't going to change it. What we can change is our own behaviors, such as not entering into a sexual relationship without knowing the others long term intent beforehand. In a perfect world anyways... now if only i could follow my own advice as well.

Sounds to me like your afraid of marriage. Obviously you are already committed to your partner if you've been together a while and they're asking you to marry them, it must be pretty serious. I used to be afraid of it too, I would date someone for no longer than 2 months then get rid of them. Until I found the man Im with now, We've been together almost a year and I know hes the one Im supposed to be with. Maybe hes not the right one and thats why you are afraid.

Maybe he really likes someone else but is going out with you casually because he has a good time for you. Also he could be scared of commitment and just not read to get tied down to a real relationship.

Sounds to me like hes just after a quick fumble. Not particularly scared of commitment, just maybe isnt ready, or cant see himself settling down with you..

If this isnt what you want, dont go there as you will end up getting hurt.

Dont think you can ever change a man by going along with what he wants and hoping he will change as you will end up disappointed.

If all you want is a bit of fun, go for it, but if even a tiny bit of you is more interested than him, just walk away now before it gets painful!

Maybe its too much too soon for him, especially if youve only been seeing him on a casual basis!
Or maybe he isnt interested in you in a sexual way but doesnt want to hurt your feelings or lose your friendship by telling you!
And if you havnt yet slept together, make sure you dont if its just a bit of fun he's after, unless of course youre happy to just settle for some sexy fun only!

What did you tell him girl?! I mean, if you've only seen him casually I can't imagine you've fallen in love with him already.

He's saying - I'm not looking for a serious r'ship right now. All I want is people to have fun with and not get serious.

So, if YOU want a serious r'ship at this point in your life then HE's not the guy. He's made it clear that he's not to that point in his life. Just move on and tell him "we want different things and that's ok."

It means that he does not want anything more than a casual relationship with you. A commited relationship is not what he is after. Chances are he is not dating you exclusively.

Okay, one since he will "only do casual" that to me says either:

a) isn't interested in a relationship with you

b) isn't interested in a relationship at all and is only interested in casual dating

c) isn't interested in dating, he only wants to get laid

Honey, don't waste your time on him. If he isn't ready to date, move on. Find someone else to date. You can't spend your life waiting on a guy to want to get serious.

Yes, he's scared of commitment. All guys are, to some extent. Keep seeing casually, if it's meant to be.. he'll change his mind. =]

He is clearly stating he wants nothing serious. So if what you want is serious I suggest you move on and don't think you can change his mind as we women often do. Most will treat you well and be respectful causing us to get a sense of hope but trust me, men usually stick to their guns in that dept and then they will tell you later that they warned you!
