Most certainly they have the power to deny your request. However, I know of very few employers that would deny a request from a good employee who's partner was returning from overseas in order to get married. A lot of it may have to do with how long you've been at your current job, how good an employee you've been and how well you get along with your employer. Somehow I doubt that you will be turned down so you better get busy making the preparations for this big day. Best of luck and a happy marriage is wished for you and your fiance.

They don't HAVE to give you time off to get married, but if you explained to them that your BF is coming hope from Iraq and you have plans of marriage, I don't think they would deny you that, especially with this much advance notice.
Even though it is possible to get married in that big of a hurry, why don't you wait until he gets back and try living with him for a while. Deployments sometimes change people, and not usually for the better depending on what they experience. The man you fell in love with may not be the same man that comes back.
Also, the military has a 78% divorce rate becasue couples get married just like you are about to.
Just spend the time that he is back care free and just enjoy life.

They could deny you the days off, especially if you haven't worked there long enough to accrue vacation time. On the other hand, if you've been there a while chances are they'll be flexible, especially if you're a good worker and they know this is your wedding and he's on a very limited schedule. Besides, you're giving them nearly a month's warning. It's not like you're suddenly asking for tomorrow off for this.
In other words, don't ask us, go straight into that office and ask your manager!
Best of luck to you both for a long and happy marriage.

You better hurry up and get those days off NOW!
How long ago did you know about this (guy coming home)?
Explain the situation, fiance from Army coming home and you want to get married then and need the time off.

they could deny you but i feel sure if you explain to them the situation they would be reasonable in giving you the time off. Just say to them this, " I know this is short notice in asking, but my fiance is in the military and is coming home only for a short period of time, we have decided to get married and I would really appreciate if you would allow me to take these days off, I will work for someone else if they would work these days for me. thank you." How could they say no, only if they are assholes would they deny you.

I think the only one who can answer that is your boss. It is up to them whether they want to give you the time off or not. Do you know how many vacation days you get it a year? Do you have any time left? If not, then they could deny you. The best thing for you to do is to ask them.

1. check company policies - some won't approve time off over holiday weekends.
2. check the vacation calendar already - if there are people who have it scheduled previously there may be a limit as to how many people can be off that weekend.
3. if you are getting a new manager on Thursday, do it now when the old manager may be a little more apt to give time off since he/she won't be there anyway!

Depends on what you do for a living but in theory any company can refuse to give you time off.
However, they generally like to keep their employees happy and so I would suggest you get in there as soon as you can and request the days off. The new manager will have to honour any pre-booked leave.
Congrats and good luck!!

They don't have to give you days off. This is why you need to submit your request for time off well in advance, and labor day weekend, probably not. Why not just wait until after he gets back? Rushed marriages don't tend to last very long.

they could deny it, but why did you wait so long to ask off, you should have told them the day you decided to get married you would want off, do you really want to marry this guy, that is a sad excuse for canceling a wedding
