Really it all depends on alot of other details like where do you live, what is expected of the caregiver, their experience and so forth. So having said that, I can give you suggestions and try to point you in the right direction. First you should take into account the amount of hours you will be needing childcare. If you need 40 hours a week, then make sure you make it worth while for the caregiver. Also decide whether or not you will want the nanny to do extra housework not pertaining to the child such as extra cleaning duties, laundry, and so forth. After that, look at their experience and try to base it on that as well. My other suggestion is to get on Craigslist.org and go under the childcare section of your city and post this question there as well. Then providers and other mothers in your area can give you a better idea of what to pay. Good luck and I hope this helps!

WHile you're at work, or just on occasion?
If you're looking for a nanny, say it and pay for it. babysitters are for occasional use, and run from 5-10 dollars an hour.
Nannies are 10 bucks and up.
When I nannied (its been a few years) I would work with the family on what they could afford. But for full time care the going rate was about 11 bucks an hour, or 400 a week.
For some people who i knew just couldnt afford it, for the sake of the child i'd charge less. maybe 250-300 a week. But it wasnt often, and only for a single child.
Nannies are mom when you're not home. Baby sitters are human pacifiers who dont have the long term development of your child in mind.

The average prices around here is 145-175 a week at the day car facility.
If you want a qualified child care professional to watch just your child at your house you are going to pay 2-4 time that a week.
Because they are in your home watching 1 child means they will be loosing the income from the other children and you will need to pay the difference.
There are many people who run a child care out of their homes. This is a good way to go and it is usually a lot less money. They run 110-125 for your child.
Maybe its more economical for you to watch your child at home and also watch a couple other kids too. This is how my wife got started and now owns a child care facility.
Plus we never paid child care and we raised our kids rather than drop them off for most of their waking hours with strangers.

As with anything, you get what you pay for. I dont know about these other answers, but for private care, I would not trust my kid with a 5-10 dollar an hour "sitter". Current child CPR cert. is a must. Some community/4 yr. college child education coarses are nice to. In Northern CA 15 - 20 an hour should cover it with a reputable child care provider. 400 - 600 a week for in home care or 600 - 1000 a month for a care center. Its your kid for crying out loud !!!

I do not know the rate of pay,(i am in UK) But i used to be a Nanny, and i think it is quite a costly business for the parents!. as well as paying me,they had to organise my tax deductions, and money towards my pension.this was a lot of paper work for them, but it had to be done!.also, you have to think about things such as paying for day trips for the babysitter and child,gas/petrol money, etc. there are good points too, such as someone is there to keep the house tidy, laundry etc,but it depends a lot on whether you are looking for someone full time,or just a few hours so you can go out to a movie or something.

I feel like if it is a set number of hours each week that you should just come up with a price per day instead of doing by the hour. I think hourly is better if you are going out one or two nights a week and you just want someone to sit with your child. I watch a little boy who is 2 from 9-4 three days a week and i get paid $50 a day.

hi im a private babysitter in home for a newborn. Currently im making 450 a week m-f from 9-5 . I get other perks too like if we go to target together ( she works from home) she'll just offer to get me stuff i need. She provides lunch stuff and breakfast options for me as well as makes me a cup of coffee thats waiting when i open the door.
My situation is not 'normal' :) but if you get along very well with your sitter then offer her added bonus's .. whatevers in your range, even if its simply something you got while traveling or something you picked up and extra of on sale. . . somthing as little as offering to take her and your child out to run an errand with you can make us feel like we are valued as people and not just child raising machines.
I worked a stricter job where i made 650 a week for 7-9am and 2-7pm shifts. no perks and cold unfeeling people, I'd rather make less.

Well, my daughter started going to a sitter at 8 months, and still goes now at 3 yrs. She asked for $20 a day, I work full time. I try to provide most food, etc. It's in her home. A local daycare here is $34 a day for my daughter's age. Just to give you some idea...

We pay $2.50 / hour to have our child cared for out of home. It's not a daycare and she's the only child the lady keeps. We've agreed on that price b/c the caregiver is in her home and can still do projects and housekeeping etc. when the baby is sleeping. I would assume the price would be much higher if she came to our home, esp. w/ the price of gas. Also, it would depend on if you'd have her do housekeeping, cooking, etc.

Wow! sure i'd try its completely properly worth a shot! My in basic terms right buddy has twins and he or she has constantly payed around 60 -eighty an afternoon for the two one in each and every of them. It stored getting decrease, at 6 months it replaced into 40 a toddler at one 3 hundred and sixty 5 days 35 and a three hundred and sixty 5 days and a 0.5 30 yet it is for an 8 hour day no longer a 5 hour. the lady who provided her daycare replaced into watching her very own toddler, the twins, and yet another toddler as properly. i does no longer attempt to diminish it greater desirable than 10 funds (the worst element which could take place is her countering top? yet its greater useful than no longer something!). in my opinion, sure, you're paying too lots fairly in case you're offering nutrition and the necessities for the day PLUS, out of those 5 hours think of roughly how lots your daughter naps? whilst quickly as I used to fill in and watch the twins for the day she constantly gave (or tried to, I by no ability extensive-unfold it LOL) 60$/day entire for 2 teenagers. Its incredibly no longer even a depend of minimum salary in my opinion because of the fact its in comparison to shes a authorized day care middle or something and if she extra yet another toddler she would needless to say be making greater funds and that i'm surprisingly specific she could do it without getting an afternoon care license. to no longer meantion the reality I doubt shes paying any variety of taxes on the money your paying her or despite if its adequate to could pay lots...daycare is distinctive than a regualr activity (in my opinion a minimum of). Its her selection to function yet another toddler to attempt and earn greater funds (if she is incredibly that under pressure approximately funds) yet considering shes basically watching yours it style of feels like shes making much less (i actually desire that made some variety of expertise!). solid luck!! =)
